Not much, really. They just separate the members that are cooler than others. Your rank is zero, so you're probably much cooler than Prelude!

Get more points consistently, I suppose.

Do stuff... Add items, rank items, tag items, review items, make lists of items, edit item info...

And every post you make on the forums adds to the point count. But just don't post incessantly to get points. It's really not that much. Like, per post, you get, uhm, .000047 points... Yeah. So it's almost like you don't have to post on the forum. Or something.
