I need ideas. I am in the process of making a forum site at the moment and I don't have a clue how to make a forum. So please help if you can.
(Sorry if this was a thing that could be used in Pm's or something but I had know idea who'd know how to do this expect Tom, but I don't want to bug him.)

17 years, 8 months ago at Nov 9 4:22 - Well, for a truly good forum you need visitors that can carry a conversation over days possibly weeks, otherwise you'll just get shitloads of spam, like here. The forums, or rather the people on them suck. Most of the people that post are either snobbish pricks or idiot ass kids. Having one or two of each is good, but when your core audience is made up of these two groups, it gets ugly and leads to threads of any kind getting derailed by either or.... but I doubt that's what you were asking about.
Knowing a little coding or knowing someone who knows some is always a plus.

17 years, 8 months ago at Nov 9 6:34 - I would suggest using a different provider than Freewebs for a forum. It is great, but just for a real website. I know how to make a forum just pm me if you have any questions.

17 years, 8 months ago at Nov 9 20:05 - I recommend an age limit, and strict rules. Otherwise it will get completely shat on by the likes of you and your ridiculous friends. Learn from the mistakes here in groups, and make sure you can permanently ban people and use it right away instead of giving 100 chances.

Well, for best results, but requires professional work, get a free FTP and MySQL server, like on funpic.de and other sites. Download a phpBB package (i don't remember the latest) and extract all of it in the ftp. I say again this requires very much work, so better just fetch yourself one of those free providers.
