Plagiarized movie review.

After quickly looking at both reviews I don't see much similarity between the two reviews, maybe someone else could give an opinion on this.

The two paragraphs from the forum thread linked to in the above post do have some striking similarities, but I'd rather see evidence of plagiarism spanning several reviews or several places in the same review before we decide to take action on a larger scale. One paragraph bearing such a resemblance to another in this way is weird, but not nearly enough to judge all his reviews by.
Can't Pvt just edit that one part of the review?

I agree. Both reviews are far too similar to be a coincidence, and since James Berardinelli's review was posted 10 days before PvtCaboose91's, that would make the latter's review the plagiarized one.
Hollywoodbitchslap.com has already deleted Pvt's "Super 8" review (and all his others, as a precautionary measure). This appears to be the only one he's plagiarized from Berardinelli, but that doesn't mean he hasn't done the same with other critics' reviews.

If someone puts so much effort into rewriting a review then it's not really plagiarism any more.

No it's not policy it's just my opinion on this specific situation.
Would youtube remove a video if a video blogger used many of the thoughts and structure/ideas of another video blogger?
Would flickr remove a photo that a user had taken that was the same subject and style as another photo?

I guess I can see both sides. I've seen this happen on Youtube myself, and it wasn't too bad since the second reviewer put a bunch of himself into it.
I'd welcome the thoughts of some of the members who have made their opinion on plagiarism known in other threads and would have a good perspective on this. I don't usually read a review and question the source of its diction and syntax, especially since I read stuff mostly from a lot of the same people and I've come to recognize authenticity because their personality shows. I feel as if PvtCaboose91 inserts himself into the reviews he writes.

I do see the big similarities. I'd just rather let some other users come to a conclusion on the matter, since there are Listal users whose specialty is in reviewing and who have strong opinions on plagiarism and what should be accepted.
If I were to respond to it, PvtCaboose would just edit those specific parts of the reviews. I'd like to say it's possible he had a George Harrison moment, but it's more likely that he used a little from a reviewer he liked and built his own original review around the one paragraph. He's a good contributor to the website.
At any rate, I've added about all I can offer to the discussion and am now handing it over to those more qualified.

He's also re-posted the "Jewel of the Nile" review that was deleted yesterday.

Check the review links again - another mod deleted them.
I'm going on vacation for about ten days, so I won't be able to respond to this thread for a while, but it appears that you guys got your point across.

Well, the guy's nothing if not persistent. Twice deleted and yet he continues to re-post the same plagiarized review.

And the "Super 8" review is back up again, too.

Like bgm said, can't you just ban this guy? It's obvious that your deleting his reviews isn't having any effect. He just continues to defy the moderators.
