Petition: make Arcade a proper platform (and others)

check out how many awesome entries we now have for 'Arcade' platform, yet from the 'All Platforms' page: www.listal.com/platforms/games/1/all
click on arcade gives you 'Could Not Find' error page. what a shame, its such an important platform, and really the true birth of gaming.

and why does 'PlayStation Network' and 'Xbox 360 Live Arcade' get a platform, but nothing for 'Wii Virtual Console', the system that kicks both of their competitors arses hands down.

other important 'platform' that result in 'Could Not Find' error are:

Sega Master System

Sega Mega CD (though this could be argued to be just an extension of 'Sega Genesis and Mega Drive')

and perhaps the following classics: (in order of importance)

- Atari Jaguar
- Atari ST
- TurboGrafx-16 and PC Engine
- 3DO
- Philips CD-i
- Atari 5200
- Colecovision

I did wonder about the VC - and with WiiWare on the way, we need to come up with a common idea on how to deal with these.

I think the point is that the Wii Shop ISN'T just pure emulated downloads (or won't be once WiiWare is launched), and even some of the titles that are online have been modified from their original counterparts for various reasons. Remember, also, for many it's about listing what we own as much as what we've played (hence games like Mario 64 appearing twice on mine, once for the N64 version and once for Wii VC.

In anycase, it doesn't bother me if they're treated as separate or one platform (Wii), but whichever we do, it needs to be done the same way on the 360 and PS3 for consistency's sake.

Ok, let's keep things simple. Xbox360 Live Arcade already has a proper platform, and PlayStation Network is there as well, but needs to be added properly.

so ergo, it's fair that Wii Virtual Console gets its own, so Tom, can you add the following two platforms as well?

actually, i'd also be just as content if once a month, all items tagged as 'book' and 'music' gets migrated over to those parts of listal and out of the 'Games' section, and stuff labelled as 'misc' gets deleted from the system

off topic, but on topic about platforms in general, could you add three important things?

1. when doing searches, allow to filter by platforms (even if it needs to be done manually by manually adding expression to the HTTP address)

2, when getting recommendations from friends, also allow filter so that we don't get PS2 or Xbox recommendations if we only have a gamecube

3. most importantly, please add 'platform' in item view page. right now, i can only find out the platform by hitting 'edit item description', or when looking in list mode
