Pay to Stream Services - Your Favorites

So, there are more and more options on the internet to stream movies. There are a few free services or services that provide some films for free next to their pay-to-stream films.

Netflix seems to continue to hold the gold standard as far as streaming. Still, there are plenty of other options. Amazon seems to be doing well but not sure about what films they have a available.

I have enjoyed MUBI because it has been helpful in tracking down films that have been hard to find. However, they are changing their service starting January... for the better or for the worse? Just have to see.

Hulu is always sort of fun and now that they have HuluPlus with many Criterion films it is starting to look more and more attractive.

What are your thoughts? What services do you use or have thought about using in the past?

I don't stream. I watch them on youtube, veoh, or other free online video websites.

I only use MUBI - and for the same reason you do. I normally don't stream (not even youtube, except for music).

I have found a few very obscure 70's and 80's horror films on YouTube. As well as some older short films. So, YouTube has helped in tracking things down I wouldn't normally see. However, I always seem to have issues with video's on YouTube when using Firefox. I'm sure it is just something lame and easy to fix on my part but... still the issue remains.

MUBI - Is going to be changing their format in 2013. It will be interesting to see how that works out. Still, if I can still watch a few movies from all the film festivals I follow and read about... I think it will be worth keeping the service.

How are they changing their format?

I got a message saying that they are changing my subscription. They are going to put out a new film every day and you have 30 days to watch the new film. I'm not sure if the whole library is disappearing or if they are just cutting down the size of the library. I would be happy with a smaller library if it means having a fresh rotation of films.

And speaking of... off to watch a few films from their site :)
