im ready for the debate

Overrated crush Megan Fox? I don't get that one. Now we all know she can't act and is basically a model (a really hot model) reading lines, but overrated as a crush?

Hard to debate with your choices otherwise though. Scarlett Johanson maybe for an actress.

Dont get me started on Megan Fox, please!

Ovarrated movie: Inception - Its good, and one of the best of its year, but people went over their heads about this one, it instantly became a favorite of many people and the best movie ever. It is not as original as people might think.

Ovarrated actor: Leonardo DiCaprio - I like Leo, he is good and knows what movies to pick, but he is not as talented as other movie legends, and in fact, his best roles are the least known. He is popular because his movies reach a huge audience.

Ovarrated actress: Ellen page - Same as Leo except she is younger and has a lot to grow.

Oh we r debating! Actually Inception is the most orginal idea I have seen in a while! No movie has changed my life like Inception

Leo is excellent, he is not a legend yet, and I never compare classic actors to my generation actors because theres no contest

And who really cares if their movie reaches big audiences, as long as the performance is great it should not matter

About Leonardo DiCaprio and Ellen Page, they are good and some of the best of their generation (Leo is one of my favorite actors), but when considering overrated actors, they most certainly are.

Anglina jolie sure is ovarrated and recently ive seen ellen page all over the place and favorite lists. If you ask me conneli is much superior and complete as actress.

And yes paprika is an anime movie about the same concept of inception, except is from 2006 if i recall correctly. I still think inception is the superior movie.

Overrated... I think movies without any substance like the Fast & Furious movies are overrated. And the actors in them. At least movies like Inception and Avatar have interesting plots and real acting. F&F basically rely on Paul Walker's pretty face and Vin's muscles, and hoards of easily entertained viewers.

Originality in general is also overrated. Inception might not be the most original movie, or Avatar, or most movies that come out these days, but they are entertaining and fresh and a million times better than stuff like F&F, so yes they are still excellent movies that deserve praise. And they reach the masses that typically enjoy really awful big budget movies, that means even people with poor taste are enjoying them.

I want to join. I agree with some of your choices, but not Avatar. I love that movie and everytime I watch it I am blown away. But to each their own.

I agree that Megan is totally overrated now, but before she started messing with her face she was pretty hot, talentless but hot.

You see I love Glee, but everything about Lea Michele is overatted. Russell Crowe is a little overatted. He had A Beautiful Mind, and Gladiator, but everything else Ive seen, a lot of actors could play. Emma Roberts is cute as heck, but she's still very young.

It's because every time I say it's my least favorite movie people jump all over me and talk about how great it is. If we're going to go with super popular movie that isn't as great as every on chalks it up to be then I just feel like I'm picking on the same crap every one else does, like Twilight or that kind of movie. For example, I love Inception but I do think it's overrated just because people act like it's the best movie that will ever be made. Or Scarface, but again I think that's a girl thing.

And I just don't like Russell Crowe very much. I also think Brad Pitt is really overrated if you'd prefer that answer. I don't even find him very attractive.

Brad Pitt is an awesome actor! For how much we see of him, he's really good. Fight Club, Se7en, Assination of Jesse James, he's great!

I didn't see Assassination and I liked him in Se7en and 12 Monkeys, but I've never really loved him in anything else. He's definately improved with age though. I don't mind him, I just don't think he's the best ever like some people do.

But then, Tom Cruise is one of my favorite actors so it just goes to show that tastes vary.

Brad Pitt is overrated for the simple fact HE IS EVEYWHERE! But he has amazing performances and mad acting skillz, can't deny that.

Overrated movie- Blades of Glory- I didn't get how it was funny. I heard alot of people say it was funny, so 1 year later when I watched it I only found a couple parts funny. What bugs me was the film was critically acclaimed. At least it has a 5.7 rating here.

Overrated actor- Ashton Kutcher- Besides the 70's Show he has been in average or bad stuff.

Veed, I've watched Modern Family. It's OK at best. Sadly, I think it gets more praise for having a same-sex couple (anything involving token gays and/or minorities is GREAT!! in Hollywood these days) than it does for the acting or plot.

I think so many things are overrated I could go on for hours...
Maybe I just don't have the same taste as other people?

I find Holes kind of overrated. I remember watching it at school along time ago and I remember being bored watching it.

To respond to Veed who says Twilight isn't overrated I disagree. Just cause alot of people, myself included, dislike the movie doesn't mean that there aren't people who love it.

I work at a movie theater and actually had to bite my tongue the whole first week of Breaking Dawn because people were saying how amazing it was. One woman, older about 50, said that it deserved an Oscar. I wanted to punch her. And one of my own employees said they were the best movies ever and then went on to say that the acting was terrible. She didn't understand why we all laughed at her for it. And then she almost got fired because she said they were even better than the HP's which was sacriledge to my fellow manager.

Tersany - that is hilarious! It goes to show that fangirl and fanboys will always love anything that involves their fandom.
I myself love the Twilight books. I'm not ashamed to say it. However I think the movies are utterly dreadful.

When I was telling my employee that I posted about her here she told me that if you take the pretty boys out then the movies are terrible. But she's 17 and has never even seen Die Hard so what do you expect.

Overrated movie : Kill Bill 2 (or anything Quentin Tarantino has done in the 2000's)
Overrated actor : Adam Sandler (the guy has a huge fan base and makes millions of dollars with each of his movies, it means he is hugely popular but his movies are average at best)
Overrated actress : Amy Adams (honestly, I have nothing against here but she never blows my mind and she has been nominated for 3 oscars which I don't think is deserved)
Overrated TV show : Friends (I thought it was good when I was 15 years old but then I grew up...)
Overrated crush : Garrett Hedlund (Who said it should be a woman??!? I love all women, what can I say...)

Avatar is an overrated movie as well. Of course all Twilight movies
I think Angelina Jolie is a little bit overrated so is Jennifer Aniston.
For celebrities I must go with Kim Kardashian.

Overatted Movie - Titanic - Also directed by James Cameron. In this one he takes one of the greatest disasters of the 20th century and reduces it to the background of a chick flick.

Tom Cruise is overatted as an actor, but I can think of plenty more, like, uh, Nick Cage for example.

I like Jennifer Anniston. She is a better actress than J-Lo.

I haven't seen Patrick Dempsey's show, I can't comment on him.

I am like tommyv, and don't undertstand the overrated crush concept.

I really haven't seen Bale in anything except 'American Psycho', so I really can't make a judgement on him.

But, I thought Midnight Cowboy was a great film.

As for Batman - the Dark Knight, actually - I was never interested in any of Batman movies of comics, I do not like stories about superheroes, ang went to see the Dark Knoght accidentally, but after I saw it thee times in the cinema, I watched all the Batman series)) So for me personally it deserves it's rating, as I do not normally change my opinion that easily)

among overestimated I would also name the Avatar, the Twilight (well the quality of the movie is quite good, but as for the plot - oh god))), Kill Bill, Pulp Fiction.
