Hmmm, I was really dissapointed with the results. I'm happy that Kathryn won Best Director, but I would loved to have seen 'Avatar' take home Best Picture. That normally doesn't happen though, Best Director and Best Picture are USUALLY paired up.
Here are my Oscars 'Perfect World' Picks
Best Picture: Avatar
Best Director: Kathryn Bigelow*
Best Actor: George Clooney- Up in the Air or Colin Firth- A Single Man
Best Actress: Carey Mulliagn- An Education
Best Supporting Actor: Christoph Waltz- Inglourious Basterds*
Best Supporting Actress: Anna Kendrick- Up in the Air
Best Original Screenplay: QUENTIN FOR BASTERDS!!
Best Adapted Screenplay: Jason Reitman and the other dude for Up in the Air
I am very Happy that Christoph won. He rocks my socks. :)

I'm disappointed that Inglorious Bastards won only 1 award. Otherwise it was pretty good.

I was very happy with most of the results from the Academy Awards. While, not all the people or pictures that I wanted to win won, the Academy for the most part voted for art (the best) than what was popular. Up in the Air in my opinion was the perfect film from the year and should have won best pic and adapted screenplay. However, I think Bigelow took a really dark story with a controversial topic and told it with a lot of grit and grace in the Hurt Locker and definitely deserved that award. The fact that Avatar DIDN'T win best pic made me really happy. Best actor was a good choice, except I thought Firth should have gotten a lot more hype for his role. Both supporting actor and actress were slam dunks (and really the only obvious choices). Best actress was the worst pic on the night, and even Bullock in her speech made reference to the fact that there were far more deserving people. Mulligan was flawless (as one of my friends put it...the female performance of the decade equal to that to the male performance put on by Day-Lewis in There Will Be Blood). Streep played transformed into her character...just excellent. Inglorious Basterds should have won best original screenplay, and I was very surprised that it did not win.

I agree. :)
Kathryn Bigelow and The Hurt Locker deserved the 6 wins. Still a shame 500 days of Summer wasn't chosen instead of The Blind Side for Best Picture noms.

In my opinion The Hurt Locker is the best movie made in a long time.. So the 6 wins went to the right movie. Up in the air was good too but not good enough for Academy Award(s). I mean, it was clever and stylish but nothing earth-shattering. Plus what's the deal with George Clooney playing himself.. Honestly, can't understand the nomination.
Inglorious basterds is my personal favourite too but it really isn't a oscar type of film. Christoph did an amazing job though.
Too bad that A Serious Man didn't have any luck. Well, can't remeber who said that A Serious Man is a movie you make after you've won the Academy Award and personally can't agree more. So I guess it's understandable why it didn't win.

Certainly can relate to your feelings there. Haven't seen ''Up in the Air'' yet but when I first saw the trailer I wasn't particularly excited. Alot of my friends started praising it which then got my attention.
I definitely want to see ''A serious Man'' but it wasn't showing in my area unfortunately.

Oh, yeah. Forgot to say, Melanie Laurent should have won Best Actress for Inglourious Basterds, or at least have been nominated for it. She was AMAZING.
