Oscar Nominations?

What do people think about this year's Oscar nods?
What films did they snub? Who's gonna win?

Moon got the shaft. It was the best science fiction film of the year (sorry D-9). It should have received a nomination with 10 spots open. Also, 500 Days of Summer (in a regular year it should never be nominated like Moon), but 500 Days was one of the top ten films of the year along with Moon.

For Best Picture I think that it is a toss up between Avatar and The Hurt Locker (I'll give the edge to The Hurt Locker just because James Cameron has already taken the big prize home before). Up In the Air (my #1 movie of the year), is my third most likely to win. There was nothing wrong with the film (seriously no flaws), but I think it was too simple and not publicized enough to win the big prize. Inglorious Basterds is my fourth most likely. A very publicized movie with a super egotistical director, and a very solid script and acting. However, I just don't see a movie that rewrites history and is this Tarantinoized winning (However give Christoph Waltz the Oscar now for best supporting actor, he is a lock). The fifth most likely is the Blind Side. While I don't consider it even close to this years best picture, it is that feel good dark horse that everyone loved. If the Academy votes it Best Picture, all the critics and film lovers in America will be blogging furiously for days, but the mainstream populace won't mind at all.

NOT A CHANCE: Up and District 9 don't have a shot at winning best picture. Up in an animated film (and not even the best animated film of recent times...think if Wall-E couldn't even get nominated, how can Up win). District 9 is a science fiction film. They never win, and District 9 was way too violent to get the win.

I'll have more predictions later.

Mmm, I agree with the toss up of 'Avatar' and The Hurt Locker' winning Best Picture. But I think maybe (just maybe) The Basterds will take the big prize home.
I really want George Clooney to win Best Actor. He's so cool...

Major snubbage to (500) Days of Summer and the final acting spot should have gone to JGL

How District 9 ever got nominated is beyond me, one of the all time worstmovies I ever sat through, right along with There Will be Blood.

Out of the nominations, in my opinion Avatar is the best of what is offered.

The Hurt Locker, Inglourious Basterds or A Serious Man are 10 times better then Avatar
