Ooooh! The spammers are getting 'clever'

Thankfully it's not particularly easy to spam the forums here (otherwise, we'd have been spam-botted to distraction by now). The lil scamps keep trying.

I suppose the increased spam activity means that the site has passed a threshold of sorts.

I'm pretty confused why the spam come in groups of 3 threads, any idea?!

Well, I got to thinking about it after I posted and I think maybe it is automated (the cut off title of one post is telling I think). Isn't there some sort of cut off if you try to enter too many posts too quickly? Maybe I'm thinking of another site. If it's still possible try looking at the time-stamps of the posts. If you can track the ip of the posts, you could ban that address, though with all the zombies out there it probably wouldn't make a whole lot of difference.

All things considered it's really not that bad (yet). I suggest you get used to the idea of constantly introducing anti-spam counter-measures.

I think changing the form field names for signup might help

At least until they parse the html source (again).

they're not that clever. Atleast they haven't started using naming schemes like tallgrass, greengrass, and higrass.
