Online vs. PC + Console games

tartan_skirt 17 years, 11 months ago at May 13 11:10 -
The majority of conversation here is about PC/console games, which is fair enough since that is what is in our collections, but just for a second I want to talk about online gaming!

Being a gamer who doesn't actually buy many games (partly because nothing new really tickles my fancy and its hard to find older stuff), I play one heck of a lot of online games. I'm sure most keen gamers have heard of Arcane and Steppenwolf and those who know their riddle games will probably remember NetRiddle (which has more or less disappeared once again). What I want to know is if you play many online games, or do you just use it as filler between your proper games? What types? Any recommendations? I've got plenty if anyone is looking for them.

I'm not one for proper online games (it's too exhausting for me and it just hurts after awhile) but I love the little games I can play in between doing things or if I just want something else to do to please the short attention span. I like the Newgrounds site. I haven't been on there for awhile though...

What was NetRiddle?

NetRiddle was a long riddle puzzle site which just kept going. There was a string of riddles to answer one after the other and there were quite a few that kept quite a few people going for a while, but the last one that everyone got to seemed quite impossible. At first there was a promise of a cash prize at the end, but I don't think much of the serious riddlers cared about the money, we just liked the new riddles. :P Then it disappeared for a year or so and came back all fancy and with lots of other types of riddle games on it. One for movie buffs is still about, MENEFT, because it was brought back to life somehow recently when all that eventually stopped again, but I haven't played for a year or so when the second site started to slow down. It was fun while it lasted.

I used to be on Newgrounds quite a bit, but I haven't been on there in a while. They still have some good old ones though.

I forgot, I also used to be a huge fan of Runescape years ago but haven't been on it lately. After Runescape I played MapleStory for a while, and even though I still love it, haven't been on in ages either. I'll probably start back up on the last one after my exams so I'm less likely to fail everything. :P

Ah bugger, NetRiddle sounds like it could have been my cup of tea. I'm always keeping an ear out (ear out, eye out, whatever) for online games for my forum. I like to help keep the people entertained.

I'm going to be a bugger and ask you what's MapleStory? Wait... brain just kicked in. I might just save you the time and google it. Didn't think of that! lol

Where are my manners! It's morning and I forget my links. ;)

Official home site with portals to the different game regions
The ever-helpful Wikipedia ;)

If you're looking for puzzle sites there is Puzzle Tome, which I haven't tried yet. A lot of the big puzzle sites seem to have disappeared lately as I was going to recommend Puzzle Donkey too but it looks to be down.

The only online games I play are on Neopets. I signed up a few years back for my kids to have something to do in the holidays and ended up enjoying it myself :D

Love Neopets, but haven't been on it as often lately.

If you're creative you should like Furcadia. You create unique worlds for others to traverse in, design objects for them, and program them with a special language called DS. That's Dragon Speak, not Dual Screen. :p
