Online Now

Any plans to put a little circle by wherever your avatar that's purple when you're offline and green when online, like with vBulletin forums? Or maybe different colors to match the Listal color scheme? Could be useful, though some might consider it a breach of privacy. Whattaya guys think?

Sometimes I'll be sending a message to someone, wait a few minutes, and sign offline, only to log in again and discover that the response came in about ten minutes later. They had been online when I sent it, but I signed offline thinking the response would be a few hours later. An "Online Now" button would be convenient for little things like that.
But again I bring up the privacy issue. Some users might not want others to know when they're on, because then people might go on their profiles and say "Wassuuuup!" and act all silly and annoying and what have you.

I think this would be a very helping addition to Listal. Also adding to the "online now" thing you should be able to switch and say that your not online when you are like xbox 360.

You mean have an online (as in the site's up on your computer) but "away" indication like with IMs so other users know not to bother you or expect an immediate response? Sounds good to me; few users may use it, but I'd be one of the ones that does.

I honestly don't care if this is implemented or not as long as we can disable the feature. Otherwise, I'm against it.

I agree - choosing to tell others whether or not one's online should be by the user in question. It can just be there for users who don't mind other people seeing when they're logged on/logged off.
Usually if I see that a user has been online on the day and I'm awaiting a response or something, I just check his or her update feed and that'll tell me how long ago they've been online.
But then that is a different problem for a different day, the question of whether users should be able to control who sees their update feeds in the same way they control what feeds to see from others.
