New site transferred

I've transferred the beta site to the main site now
I'm checking the site now for any problems

Great work T. Does that mean all Beta links will be redirected to The Main Listal site now? Or will we have to change them all?

They all redirect to the equivalent page on listal.com although it's best to change the links anyway in case I want to use the betalistal domain for testing again.

I purposely avoided the beta site this whole time because I didn`t like the look of it, and now that it`s the only option, I really don`t like the look of the main page.
There should be a way to keep the old look, which was much easier to navigate and showed you recent threads contributed to on the forums....which appears to be gone, and what`s with this promoted stuff? Where is the list of reviews recently added, which was on the OLD version? I MUCH prefer the way it used to look until I came home and refreshed the page last night! :(
And also, before, when you used to go into the `My Stuff` section and scrolled down, you go look at the top reviewers for each type of media on the site. I don`t see that anymore either. I like to read reviews of DVD`s written by the people who are listed there....but it`s not there now?
How come the NEW site is lacking some of the features that were actually good?

Jessica, the whole point of the betalistal.com site was so you can try it out and voice your feedback/concerns about it, during the many months it was online. It was always made clear that the beta site would become the new site after debugging.
Your feedback is still appreciated now, I'm just saying don't expect quick changes if the site went thru months of debugging to get to where it is now. And what you may consider good may have been viewed as eye-sores to others.
And scratch the idea of keeping both sites. It was causing a pain in ass trying to link to right site when making links in lists, and some bugs were appearaing in beta site and not old site, and vice versa. Sticking to one site allows the bugs to be tracked down so much easier.

I think the homepage of a site should reflect the best content of the site, thats the reason for the promoted section.
It didn't make much sense to have recent forum posts and reviews on the front page since it was missing recent lists/videos/images and there is just not enough room to have everything. Recent reviews are just a click away anyway (www.listal.com/reviews)
Those links have been moved to the explore sections 'my stuff' is now has links related to your lists. You can switch between 'my stuff' and 'all' by click the links on the top right or using the drop down menus at the top.

I didn`t see them and don`t think it`s very user friendly for anyone who has been actively avoiding the beta site this whole time. And having to type in an address to get to recent reviews, instead of just being able to click from another location on the site....well, yes, being lazy, but it makes more sense to have that be easily accessible. At least to me. I liked being able to easily find the top reviewers for each section of the site. if it`s not going to be easy to find stuff...I will end up visiting this site less and less.
I really don`t like the emptiness on the new home page, and all the promoted stuff. I really don`t care what was recently `promoted`, and don`t relaly understand what that all means anyway. Does that mean it was voted for, or someone just added it....and as for recently added reviews, having them show up on the homepage was a good thing, because that made me read a lot of the reviews when I saw them show up as people added them....and that has been true since I joined this site.
So, forum posts disappearing...sure, I understand.
But reviews are related to all of the content on this site, and are pretty important on this site...at least, I thought so, from the amount of reviews I saw being posted until the changeover.

Wa-lah!
www.listal.com/reviews
Thats one click away from the main page. I'm sorry if this is blunt but this has been a long time coming and if you didn't want to help and improve it when it was being constructed then you have no case whatsoever. 'Actively avoiding' progress doesn't make you a martyr.
Recently promoted on the homepage provides users with the vote worthy content. Do you know how many paper-thin 'reviews' are posted on a weekly basis? Why would anyone want a bunch of illiterate, sentence-long reviews on the front page of their website?
You start with your best.

Movies then on the left with an orangeish box click Most Reviews.
I think the new review layout is a lot better personally as it shows you the top rated reviews and gives them a lot more coverage. Also, if you have a particular favourite reviewer, you can now follow them, so whenever they review something new, it pops up in your home page 'feed'.
I think all the features you like are still there, it just takes a few seconds to adjust to the new layout.

I know it took me a little while to get used to the new layout, but it's miles better than the old scheme of things.
Like Kryptic said, you really should have explored the Beta format in-depth and then gave feedback. Sadly, it's now your loss that you're completely uncomfortable and lost with the new site. However, if you have any questions about the new layout, anyone here is more than willing to help you out.

I edged into the new site slowly myself during beta testing, but have gotten enough used to it now. The emptiness of the right hand of the page can also be changed if you add people to follow, which is similar to the friends function on the old site (though the two are seperate things now). Follow the people who you want to see the actions of and that'll help fill up the right of the page.
The lack of being able to see recently added reviews on the home page is a slight setback, as now it is the "promoted" and thus voted for items that get pushed forward. This of course means that unless you get into the habit of going to the recent reviews page then new items are going to be neglected and promoted items that appear on the front page may just get voted for again and again.
But I stand by my earlier complaint and say bring back the tag cloud. The tag page as it is right now is nearly useless to me. I have thousands of tags and as I cannot see them alphabetically I can't see duplicates close to an original tag, I can't quickly find something (without doing a browser search) in any sensical order, and a numerical listing is no where near as neat and easy to just scan through to look for random items (especially since the numbers go across the page instead of down. WHAT?).

if you 'follow' all your favorite reviewers on this site, their reviews will be promptly and easily visible on the right panel of the home page, so Jessica's concern should be addressed with that.

Here! Here! I second this motion! BRING BACK THE TAG CLOUD! BRING BACK THE TAG CLOUD! ;)
I miss it too. Tags in a numbered list looks ugly and is impractical.

I've added the tag clouds back to the dedicated tag page so you get both the alphabetical and most popular tags lists.
