New mature content filter

I have added a new mature content filter setting to user settings which will hide all lists marked as mature when browsing lists or the homepage. This setting is on by default (and on by default to unregistered visitors). Below "Recently promoted items" on the homepage there is an note with what you have it set to.

There is a setting when editing lists to set your lists as mature content which might include lists showing excessive violence (e.g. "top 10 goriest deaths in movies") , lists of porn/adult actors/actresses/models, lists with other adult themes or containing suggestive or provocative images.

I would appreciate it if you would mark your lists appropriately (some may also be changed by me).

All lists are still visible to all by visiting the list page directly.

Cool! I only had to update a few of my music lists. As long as people aren't allowed to post porn or videos of people getting killed, I'll not filter the site.

Is there any measure being taken to apply filtering to forum posts? Maybe by putting asterisks in place of curse words?

I'm not really bothered about curse words (unless they are excessively used or in the list title), it's mainly the images used in these lists particularly when they are on the front page.

I think it's a great idea. Well done.

Is there any way to know if a list has been marked as having mature content when you don't have the filter turned on? Because if I see a list that I think would be best if filtered out for the squeamish and I can see that it's not marked as having mature content, I could help the lister out and tell them of the new filter system.

Tom are there any plans to filter out pornography in the search? Often I search for a title like today, I typed "Grand Theft" in the search bar for the 1977 and came up with this result... www.listal.com/search/movies/1/?query=grand+theft

Also if a filter is implemented for the search hopefully there would be a way to differentiate between pornography and violence? Probably 70% of the movie I watch are rated R so I wouldn't want those filtered out but I highly doubt 99% of the users on this site come here to rate/review porn titles.
