I do agree that the term 'friends' is nicer than the term 'followers' though, but 'followers' seems to be the big word these days... the new 'bacon'.

11 years, 9 months ago at Aug 2 9:50 - Facebook uses the term "friends" and Twitter "followers" afaik. It means more or less the same. But the function "followers" at listal is less than that, because you can follow who ever you want even someone you don't like and without the need of a permission. If you want to get rid of the terminology "friends", call it e.g. "Favorite Members".

Currently you can only add title, description and release date.
While I don't think that "release date" is really a useful feature for a place, I think that adding a type would be a good idea (shop, restaurant, mountain, planet, etc.)
Also, for exploring the places I think it would be very nice to be able to browse them on a map, so an incorporation of googlemaps, openstreetmap, or something similar would be a great addition.

A friend request is much more personal and requires approval. A person may want to be friends with some one to get in touch and check on at times, but not follow all their lists of a particular type.

11 years, 9 months ago at Aug 3 1:27 - I definitely think it would be better if we could approve our 'followers'. In that respect 'friends' is much more preferable over followers, I really think we should have a choice in who we 'socialise' with on the site.

I've actually always thought it would be fun for each member to have a sort of personal forum on their page where they could start conversations or post updates or whatever suited them. I thought it'd be a neat way to have conversations with groups instead of only private one-on-one messages. And the personal forum would be something only friends could access and/or post replies to.

But I agree with the general flow of feelings in that instead of removing social functions, there should be more. Instead of removing friends for being useless, I'd rather them be GIVEN a use.

I would also like to be able to easily post what I've been working on so followers could check there if they didn't happen to catch it in their update feed. I know many of us have people who like to see just about everything we post and that doesn't happen if you're following more than a couple people.

11 years, 9 months ago at Aug 6 13:50 - For the bookmarklet, there is a problem when adding items with special characters. When I tried to add "Edelweißspitze" the page was named "Edelwei" and had to be corrected manually.
Apart from all the error correction, I like the new site a lot. Just wanted to let you know! :-)

11 years, 9 months ago at Aug 7 0:44 - It took me three years to figure out all the bells and whistles on regular Listal, I can't imagine how long it will take me to figure out Beta Listal - and I do agree about the profile page - I like it the way it is now and wouldn't want to see it changed to much.

This is annoying for lists like this where the pictures in the notes are only illustrative of one feature (country flag), but the primary picture of an item (mountain) would be a much more representative image for the list.

Any chance you could put "sort by contact's ratings" back in Listal? Comics include webcomics and manga? Cause both are in "books" right now. There will be a section move widget?

The thing is, Friends feels social. Following is unilateral and silent, while a Friend request can be approved or rejected by the befriended person. I noticed people befriending me and not following me, and others following and not befriending...
As for Friends' practical purpose, I always thought of it as an address book, sort of a list of people I could get in touch with and keep an eye on sometimes. :)

Even though this is a Listal update which marks a new era which will probably last for years, we should also be aware that no website lasts forever. It would be, in my mind, quite useful to at least have the possibility of saving the list information and your ratings in a very simplified form (no pictures and no descriptions, just the names of the list items and years and possibly your own tags) to your computer.
For example, I have a lot of information on different films on my favorite lists. If they would be lost some day it would be a great setback for my film hobby. That's why I'd like to have an easy way to just click and save these lists without having to print them.

2. I have also added the ability to choose which categories you see. This will be asked when you first login and can be later changed in the settings.

At the moment it only affects the homepage and the main lists page, I will be adding to this such as customizing the menus.

I will probably keep friends but it will part of the follow button, there will be an option to request friend add.

I'm planning to upgrade the system so pictures won't disappear from lists if deleted by moderators unless they are breaking nudity rules etc.

I reduced the text from the wanted button so it isn't big any more. You will be able to request to change the category of an item. Comics will be any comic book series (paper or digital). Sort by contact's ratings - What did this feature do? Was it to sort custom lists?

I've removed the release date field, each category will get more specific editable fields in the future.

I was referring to the "Category selection" buttons with a green frame when they are selected, and no frame when deselected.
Anyway, I've just tried on an Android tablet with Boat browser, and they work fine there too. :)

I'd love to see that! I spent weeks earlier this year cleaning up the deleted images in my lists!
