New item pages!

I've uploaded new design and features for all items pages.

Still need to do (urgently) :

- Finish the people pages
- Enable image upload again
- Fix most of these bugs

I like the changes. Here's my thoughts:

Main MOVIES page:
- pros: colourful boxes for tags and custom lists look really nice

- bugs?: when doing a mouse-over previously selected tags (you know how browser give a slightly different colour to visited links?), well the mouse-over color and previous-selected hyperlink colour are same, so end result is solid-coloured box and text is no visible. This was also a problem before you added background colour, I just forgot to report it. If it only happens to me, I can send a screenshot of the problem.

- suggestions: why not add 'VIEW ALL' next to 'My Tags' area? Actors, movies and directors all have this, but for tags, I have to go to the left panel to view them all.

-also, for people with LOTS of lists, how about capping the custom lists to 5 or so, and also add a VIEW ALL to show all custom lists?

-any reason why only top 3 movies are shown across top? I know they cycle between top rated, but it appears there's lots of room for maybe top5, or even top 10. unless you're saving the space for other reason.

Individual movie page:
- pros: I love the new layout, with actors and directors thumbnails shown, and view how friends have rated it, and who considers it on favorite list. Also like how you can easily swithc between 'watched' and 'want to watch' if you've made a mistake, without going to list view.

- cons/possible bug?: please fix this soon. :( I got used to the awesomeness of 'edit personal information', adding special private notes such as where in my house I keep the movie. I used to do that thru tags, but them to clean up my tags, i added 'private' notes to the movies. But with this new version, the notes are no longer visible, unless I hit 'edit personal information'.

actors with long names, such as scarlett johannssen, get their names truncated and overlapped.

suggestion: see how all the actors thumbs 'blend together' into two solid columns? I'd definately add at least a small break line between rows to make the thumbs seperate.

suggestion: perhaps to simplify this, what about only viewing them as thumbnails, 5 or 6 per row, and mouse-over the thumbs gives you their name. and then add a link near bottom, 'Show actors/actresses in text mode', which reveals the full text of all that played in the movie.

The 'Cover art, photos and screenshots' section is nice.

Everything is looking good, but lately I've started getting the feeling that some pages may be getting too busy or at least they're toeing that line. Further tweaking like Prelude76's last suggestion might be helpful.

One other thing; is the section where 'People who also own/have watched/wanted...' is gone. You see the numbers on the listings page, but the item page no longer lists the other people. Is this a permament change and is something similar going to replace it? It was handy for checking out what other people had watched/want to watch/own...

If 'Loved by' is supposed to replace this I'm not sure that's gonna cut it.

I'm on the fence about it. The 'loved by' is far more relevant for finding similar users that love same films as you, and the old system did nothing for very popular films, only showing last 10 users that added it to their list. but for obscure films, it was sometimes handy to know who else saw the film. then again, screen space is priority, and with so much being added, some things unfortunately have to go.

I will add the totals back and maybe a page containing all the ratings.

the fix to the long names and extra spacing for thumbs looks good. Now that its fixed, it looks fine as it is, so i take back my suggestion of having thumbs-only actor index. Most movies have a few unknown unpictured actors, that even with google hunting, I can't find any record of the actor, so if it were setup as thumbs only, there'd be too many blank question mark thumbs, and it would look tacky. this way, at least they all have names right there.

Tom, any news on that 'personal information' bug, where personal notes are hidden? Is it a bug, or was it changed this way on design?

update: Personal notes/comments are now displayed on the list page. Thanks Tom. we're keeping you quite busy these past few weeks, arent we? :)
