New feature: Person page

Changed to a similar design as the item pages, more focus on their top movies or top rated movies and pictures. Show counts for all top links.

Will you be able to review/add a profile to peoples pages in this new system? Being able to write a short piece about his life etc would be interesting, and writing a review of why you like an actor etc would be a good thing. You would probably need a rule to avoid slander etc, and a disclaimer saying none of the views are yours, but that is simple enough!

I'm really like the new features, Tom. All I have to contribute is little nitpicks. I'd be really grateful if you added just a bit more space between the different sections. My eyes can't see the divisions very well at all. Particularly with the Most Popular and Top Rated, they look like one section if I don't look hard enough.

Great! Thanks for listening.

I've added an edit function, example:
www.betalistal.com/person/milla-jovovich
Any more fields that need to be added?

I like the "stats" and "about" sections. I don't think anything else needs added!
One question though: where is the information from? Is it an IMDb copy and paste? Or a brief Wiki description? Surely you can't have written all of that yourself, Tom... ;p

Pardon the blonde moment, I see how it works now - we can fill in information ourselves. It's a great feature, I just hope people don't abuse the privilege and put in false information just for the hell of it.

coolest thing so far :)
can we copy bios from official sites? or is it considered plagiarism? is taking bios from wikipedia encouraged, or should we write our own?
maybe date of death, or should we not add birth date at all when a person is deceased? just added info for Leslie Cheung, and it says he's 52 altho he died a few years ago..
birth name?
link to official website?

I haven't seen any abuse of the existing editing functions but if that happens I would just ban that user from editing.

I don't see a problem with adding from official sites (e.g. their own website) but taking bios written by other people would be plagiarism.
You can add portions from wikipedia if you credit the source it comes under this:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Text_of_the_GNU_Free_Documentation_License

I will add these
link to official website?
I want to add a separate section for this.

This new person page looks great Tom. I like being able to add information about each actor or actress.

Are we able to add actors and actresses?

Bug when editing a person (for example Editing Tom Hanks):
after adding all data and saved changes, all fields in the result page ("You have changed the following fields") are correct except "date of birth": a long negative number (like -141418800) appears.
And in Tom Hanks' personal page (Tom Hanks page edit) needs years before 1900;
2) about height: why not in metres/centimetres (more accurate, I think), then converted in feet/inches?
3) a "date of death" field?
Thanks.

Over here we use metres/centimetres, I have no idea how tall 5' 6" or 6' 1" actually is. So maybe include both?
Edit profile isn't working for music artists just yet? I was testing it on Dennis Brown and Gregory Isaacs and got a critical error page.

this happens when setting game dates as well. I believe (correct me if i'm wrong Tom) that it IS the right date, but stored in a Julian date format inside the database. In the automotive parts industry, they stamp dates in Julian Date format as well, not the typical year/month/day format.
aa.usno.navy.mil/data/docs/JulianDate.php

Oops... Thanks for your info, Prelude! :)
But there is another bug:
I'm sure I entered the correct date of birth for both, but
Ingrid Bergman's page (date of birth 29 august 1915)
Greta Garbo's page (date of birth 18 september 1905)
have now a totally different date:
Editing Ingrid Bergman (date of birth 25 july 1964)
Editing Greta Garbo (date of birth 28 july 1963)
... 8(

I've fixed the date issue
I've set it to go back to 1500
I will change it to be more friendly but that is just the way it's stored.
No they are stored as unix time:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unix_time
Most sites quote in inches so I don't think this is a problem and I think to majority of site vistors are more familiar with inches
Not unless you add a movie they have been in but most of them should be there already. I am thinking about adding a way to add new people though.
I've added these fields:
Date of death
Birthname

What's this mean:
"Enter person:Person Name to link to a Listal page (if exists)"
Are we supposed to link it, or does it link automatically? I tried it both ways on Tony Leung, and it didn't link to Carina Lau.

You need to enter "person:Carina Lau" or "author:Carina Lau" etc...

trying to put 1899 birth year for Humprey Bogart, but it comes out as 1901..

Well actually I meant to say add boxers or UFC fighters. I know this website doesn't really consist of that, which is fine, but I am making a list about boxers and mma fighters. They are considered actors, which is also fine as long as you don't mind me making lists about those topics. Maybe a section for that?
