New feature: Create people lists

You can now create lists of people
Existing favorites (the current text lists) will be converted into proper lists when the new site launches

btw these are hidden on the main listal site, there may be a problem if I've forgotten to hide them in certain places.

Fantastic idea! Thanks Tom. :)

Oh! How awesome is this idea? I'd been wanting to find a way to make a favourite bands list and now I don't have to 'cause you've done it for me.

Love the fuction, but voting on people while viewing a list doesn't work. It just throws you up to the top of the top and doesn't save.

I actually have that problem in a few places. Sometimes just looking at them in any form other than single-item view.

Also, if you fill in the description when creating the list it disappears.

Still won't let me rate Actors either!

Ah, encountered another problem. I made a start on two people lists and made them private, but I appear to have lost them now. I cannot find them anywhere now.

I find that if I make any people lists, and don't make them automatically public, I can't find them again.

lists?
They will only appear if you are on betalistal.com btw
I will look into the other problems tomorrow

lists" but I can't access to it anymore (When I click on it this message appears: "A critical error has occured (IP address) This error has been logged and will be dealt with asap.").
And another bug:
I tryed to add Ava Gardner to my "Femmes Fatales in Film Noir" but the search query in the "Rearrange or add to this list" section gave no result. Simply "Ava" or "Gardner" gave me 9 different people but not Ava Gardner...

I've fixed all the bugs mentioned in this thread, post here if there are still problems.

Maybe it's just me but I just created a list of my favorite actors and actresses and I can't add anyone at all to the list. I can't do it with the search feature inside the list or by going to an actor's page.

Should work now.
Adding favorites from a persons page will just add them to the old text list for now, that will change when the site launches.

Everything works fine now :) And thanks a lot for the names under the pictures... Very useful!

I don't know if it's the browser I'm using (I'm at work, and using IE), or if it's a general issue, because I've had the same issue at home (where I have Firefox), but sometimes when I use the search function within the make-a-list function, nothing at all comes up. Like it doesn't even search, as opposed to not finding anything. But then, I've also had this happen in regular listal lists, too. It's just been markedly more pronounced in the past two days.

If specific searches are not working post them here so I can look into them, everything seems to be working for me although it was broken earlier

I couldn't find anything searching for Richard Harris, though I did just searching for harris, so I got him that way. I don't have any other specific examples right now.

I still can't find my private and semi-private lists on my (beta) list page. Although I can see two of the semi-private ones on my user page. The private people lists seem to be lost since there is no main page to access them from.

Which page (post the url) and which lists are missing?

I know it's a minor thing but there still seems to be a little glitch with it. I seem to be able to add most actors so far but no matter what I cannot add George C. Scott to the list. If I type George Scott then some other George Scott comes up. If I type Scott then I get a million actors with the last name Scott but I can't go to the next page like I used to.

Thanks, got my lists back! :D

That search should work now but let me know if a search doesn't work.

No problem ;)

So, this is a minor issue, and more something I'm curious about than something that's vital, but I tend to like to use the main search function to make most of my lists. Which is to say, I search for a movie (or type of move using "most popular," or tag listings), then use the check boxes to add them to the list.
Is this a feature that will ever be possible with people lists, or will we have to create them and use the search and sort function within the list to make them?

Two little problems.
1. I can't find "Hank Ballard" in the (musicians) in-list search, but he has plenty of items otherwise on site.
2. When I press enter after typing a search in-list to add items it always just comes out blank. You either need to click with the mouse button or press tab then enter to get it to work properly.
EDIT: Number one is also happening for "The Dave Clark Five", and I'd like to note that this happens for both complete and partial searches.

I'm working on a solution to fix all the missing artist names, at the moment someone has to click on their artist page to generate a profile for them as soon as I clicked on Hank Ballard's page he was searchable.

Searching for people within lists only display the first page of results.
The music artist (Dawn) that I'm looking for is listed on the second page when I search through listal (www.betalistal.com/artists/search/2/dawn)
Also why does the people search show that there are 9 pages of results even if there's only 1 or 2 pages? Another example:
www.betalistal.com/artists/search/bobby%20vinton

I've add pagination for people searches and fixed the page numbers

Another problem with the in-list search and the item display:
The url is for: www.betalistal.com/person/bob-seger-and-the-silver-bullet-band
But when I click on the link it says "Could not find a person matching this name"
However, on the list the link is for: www.betalistal.com/artist/bob-seger-and-the-silver-bullet-band
There is a conflict in the urls

Will lists that people are in be added to the people profile pages soon? Because I'm wary of making certain new lists just incase I've missed them already being made.
Also, will there be a search function for list titles? This would be very useful.

I agree, a search function for lists would be helpful. And even a favourite list option - your favourite lists from other members. Perhaps a favourite button could be placed on lists for other members to use to designate as one of their favourites? Just an idea.

I've added list search function in the dropdown at the top right

Good show. :)

If it's a people's list, shouldn't we be able to add more than just one "category"? For example, add both musicians and actors?

I think the problem with this is that like with items, the people on the site are divided into different sections and thus there are crossovers where people appear more than once (like appearing seperately as Director, Actor or Writer).

yeah, apparently a person can appear on a list only once, which causes problems for example if you're doing a list on award winners, and there's people who've won the award several times.
I was doing a list on best actor/actress winners, and it screws up the chronology if there's only one list entry for an actor. Is it ever possible to change this?
