New and old editor

I think a guide (how to use the new note editor?, what can you make with it?, what if you'd rather stick with the old editor?, what are the pros and cons of each system?) is badly needed. Maybe the more expert list creators (a nick name springs to mind, starting with Onion and ending with Jack!) would like to share their wisdom and write down some guidelines as a list? :)

BTW, I noticed the new option in list settings.

"Choose whether to continue to use the old list note editor and BBcode tags or try the new rich text editor with image upload. "

There are three choices: Default, Use old editor..., Use new editor...
What does Default stand for?
Can we set the Old editor as a Default for all the lists we edit, so we don't need to set it in each list?

EDIT: I've just found out we can set the list note editor Default in www.listal.com/user/settings
Just pick your favorite (old or new) and click Update my settings.

The old editor has been restored

If a note has already been edited with the new editor there will be an option to use the new or old editor. If the old editor is used you will need to remove the html code produced by the new editor, once you click save with the old editor the option to use the new one will not be available.

The will be an option in the future to use either the new or the old

I did have a fiddle with the new editor before the old one was restored, and worked out how to get the same results for many of the things we needed, but it was fiddly, and code insisting on duplicating more often than not. I really wouldn't want to offer advice on the new editor, because I did little more than tinker (and that was only with the raw code option). The old one is simple and suits our needs. The only nice thing about the new editor is more flexibility when it comes to font control, but we can live without that if it means we can spend more time watching the content we list about... instead of scratching our heads.

Edit: The new editor uses basic html, so any site offering html examples should prove useful. The old editor uses BBcode, usually used on forum message boards, and again, you can get examples with a simple search. Anyone wanting to know how to make bbcode do something in particular can drop me a message, and if I don't know, I'll try to see if I can make it happen. I will leave the new editor stuff to others though, I simply can't be bothered with it. It just seems unnecessary.

I am not fond of the new smart gizmo either. But, maybe I have to get to know it better.
For instance, I don't get it, when I use the Insert image button and drag an external image into the square, I get a pop-up notice that it's going to leave the page.
On the contrary, if I don't use the Insert image button and drag the pic directly to the editor, it gets added.
Entering the URL works too.

OK, I am going to get rid of any traces of the New Editor. I've set the Old Editor as my default in my profile settings.
There are some notes I edited with the New Editor though (I did that while I was testing BetaListal).
Now I have both editor options under those notes.
Edit note
Edit note (New editor)
Following what Tom explained, I am removing the HTML code produced by the new editor, saving the empty Note in the Old Editor, and then the "Edit note (New editor)" option under the Note disappears. Then I recreate the Note in the Old Editor.
P.s. Just tested: it works the same if you replace the HTML "new code" directly with the old editor code (img id="..." in square brackets, and so on), and Save the note in Old Editor.
