Need help with 'Casual PC Games' list

Any ideas & suggestions of unique PC games (NOT internet flash games tho - preferably either free ones or trial ones that have premium or deluxe versions available) that are perfect for casual gamers, like your mom, your dad, or your grandparents?

- must be PC-based (either downloadable or deluxe/purchased version)

- must be easy to get into by even the computer illiterate

- controls must be simple and obvious, but level design may be tricky (in case of puzzle games)

- preferably stick to XP and later era of gaming

- if its listed on amazon (as many downloadable games are not), please make a custom entry before suggesting it to this list

- little or no backstory - just get into the levels and play


Also looking for ideas/ways to sort this list. I'm probably gonna go by release date, but if you have a better idea, let me know.

I'm tempted to open up this list to great freeware and/or flash-based internet games as well. An estimated 200 million people play 'casual games' each month, so the market is there, only its not represented much on Listal because most of the games do not appear on the amazon.com index.

If you've tried out any of the games on this list, place rate it and list it, lets give the good ones fair representation here @ listal. If you haven't, you'll see I'm adding screenshots, links to gameplay videos, short overview, as well as links to free trial or demos of the games, and links if they exist on other consoles. So do check them out. I highly HIGHLY recommend you trying Peggle if you haven't heard of any of the other games on this list.

Added a few nice additions to the list: Chicken Invaders series, Ricochet series, and the sweet-looking AudioSurf.

Does anyone have any other suggestions? Am I the only one who enjoys the occasional casual game?

And just to have full disclosure, as of 11-08-08, Audiosurf is only $2.49 on Steam so pick it up before it's to late.
