My Rant on people's reactions/comments to real life events

My rant is on some people’s reactions/comments from online about real events. There are things you can respond to while having respect on whatever topic it is but however there are things that is better off not saying or people just saying it for the heck of it that is not funny and tasteless to an event that can happen in real life. I will talk about two times I saw this happen. It was back in 2009 when Travis the chimpanzee attacked the owner’s friend that got very awful injuries on her body that took a while to fix in surgery. Than in November of 2009, the owner’s friend reveals her damaged self on the media. I remember watching it on YouTube taking a look at the comments. I don’t remember the exact comments but I know it was making fun of her appearance. I was disgusted by it like what is wrong with you? This woman almost died with her hands, eyes, lips, nose and other parts gone from the attack and you joking about something that can happen anytime in real life.
Than another example is a more recent event at February of this year. There was a video on YouTube that take place in Syria that it was about Assad’s army doing a very bad thing to this kid. The video showed what happen to the kid but I’m not going to mention it on here. When I look at the comments, thankful I was not the only one shocked about this, but there were a couple of comments that joked about it which I was honestly horrified by it. Just like the video content I not going to mention the comments but I will say this. What kind of sick, SICK mind do you have? Granted you could say that an troll did that to just troll but regardless, it was just tasteless and very messed up. Yes I know that people joke about most recent things but in my opinion there are a few things which are better not to say or joke on.

These things attract all kinds of attention, and unfortunately this includes that of people quick to capitalize on an opportunity to make a cheap below-the-belt joke. It seems that those people see these things in media and think that by making insensitive fun of it they're somehow establishing some sort of superiority, as if it isn't possible that such tragedy could strike them as well. They're certainly separating themselves from the people who've been attacked/brutalized, which is never a good thing as it eliminates the need in their heads for empathy and makes humans look like elitists by nature.
You may not be able to help other countries and people in pain in an apparent significant way when this kind of thing occurs, but c'mon, at least have empathy.

Very interesting point.

That was a really awesome response, Pumpkinate. I totally agree with you.
The truly sick thing about people who choose not to empathize is that they are usually the first ones raising hell to make sure others help them out with their own little crises, which, let's face it, are typically insignificant and do not compare whatsoever to the kinds of nightmares some people in the rest of the world have to live.

We are the only species who take fun or pleasure in the misfortune of others of the same kind. When you have the power to think and rationalize, your mind can find the most bizarre and cruel things to do or to say. Fortunately some of us still have a conscience.
