Took some doing with this issue but managed to sent Tom a message.

I noticed last night. I could access and post pics, but profiles and the homepage generated a 522 server error.

Good News. I see broken thumbnails are back though, one step forward and one step back!!

So, I've noticed on the home page, the "new members" (a/k/a fake/spam accounts) section is blank. Anyone else see it?

So, without a 200-word dissertation, I'm formulating a hypothesis: over the past few days, we've been able to access pics and the Listal homepage, but not individual members pages. The "new members" portion of the homepage is riddled with SPAM accounts, ghost lurkers (or should we call them "Turkers," since most seem to based in Turkey), and duplicate accounts to puff up a few members' vote counts. Now, the pic posting issue notwithstanding, we can suddenly access the members' homepages, but the "new members" portion is missing. Do you think Tom put a moratorium on new accounts until he can sort this out and, maybe (MAYBE!), install some kind of gatekeeper anti-SPAM software?
Thoughts?

@TrekMedic - I do hope Tom is trying to sort out the issues/spam you mention but unless he communicates to us what is going on with the site its all a bit of guesswork. I notice his Profile Page looks like is full of spam (again). Do we know if the picture loading issue has been fixed yet??

Well, it's still not exactly joyful, huh! The photos I (struggled to) post yesterday can no longer be viewed... Another thing that bothers me: members should make the effort to write in English, I have never learned this language but I use translators because if everyone starts writing in their own language, we won't be able to keep track anymore. It's really not difficult to use a translator... I've always said, with English you can go anywhere, with German, Arabic, Dutch (for example) you go nowhere.

You mentioned that “it’s really not difficult to use a translator,” which is true — and that’s exactly why no one should be pressured to write in English. If translation tools are easy and accessible, then they work both ways.

Most modern platforms have built‑in translation features so multilingual communities can function smoothly. Listal doesn’t, because the site is still running on early‑2000s infrastructure. That’s a platform limitation, not a user failing.

People should feel free to write in whatever language they’re comfortable with. Browsers already translate automatically, and it’s not reasonable to expect global users to adjust their language because the site hasn’t kept up with the rest of the internet.


Listal’s outdated design is one problem; insisting everyone adapt to your preferences is another.

I cannot upload an image can you recommended to reduce my restriction of Post an image by 1 day as my payment and acceptance responsibilities for my recent hanky panky cases please tomorrow ?

So at the moment Profile are Ok BUT Image Loading is still down.

Sal3000, quit spamming every thread with this! I believe the mods have told you time and again that the answer is NO!
