Music Discussion(Serious Music Discussion)

Devious Phenomenon 16 years ago at Apr 30 20:27 -
I'm not just talking about "What's your favorite songs?"

I mean EXPLAINING it; How do you connect to the song? What are your favorite parts of the song? What do you like about the song's artist and their other songs? What genre do you like most and WHY? What your favorite music artist is(Your fave song doesn't have to be by your music artist, Fave Music Artist= Most songs that you like a lot, Fav song= Best song so far)

Take apart the song, find similes metaphors, wordplays and all that stuff that makes you like the song

Lolz, this may take a while...

Heh. The British crowd on here is going to kill me**, but I am going to say it anyway: One of my favourite songs of the last few years was "No Bravery" by --James Blunt. *hides and waits until the coast is clear again*
Why? Because of the images it evokes. It's not a singalong song, it's something that makes me think and makes me grateful that I wasn't in Sarajevo in the early 1990s or in Kosovo (though we had a huge number of refugees coming through, since our city was the central hub for refugee registration in my country).
For an in-depth analysis I would have to listen to it again...- I might do this, but not tonight (I'll come back and edit this message :-) ).

**My personal experience was that all my acquaintances were well fed up with hearing him yet again on the radio in summer 2006 (even though they might have been his "target group" otherwise)

Personally, I don't dislike James Blunt through hearing him on the radio all the time, I haven't bothered listening to much radio station other than Radio 5 for a while, I just find his music incredibly dull. It does nothing for me at all - it's even completely inoffensive and difficult to dislike on that basis.

Actually, I'd agree with Phil on most of James Blunt's stuff ("inoffensive", *g*). But it's funny how a song can "hit you". I hadn't heard of James Blunt, really, before hearing this song on TV (I am listening to the wrong radio stations, obviously!), so I took it at face value.
