mp3 players

I'm having a tiny bit of trouble here. I'm on my third iPod, and I'm becoming increasingly dissatisfied with the brand. My first broke down after about 2 years, but the next lasted a month before the forward button stopped working. Now, after 4 months, my screen has started going to crap and I really don't want to buy a new one or get it repaired.
So I was wondering what other mp3 players everyone is using. Any recommendations? Thanks in advance :)

I used sylvania, though it gets nowhere near as many gigs as some of the iPods do, (I think the largest is an 8 Gig) they are bitches to handle if you're not tech intelligent, mainly cuz they need VERY specific file types, and the converters that come with the product don'twork correctly...
Although, it's similar to an iPhone knock off, touch screen and all
Mine worked fine, the only problems I had with it were that mine didn't come with the 'Games' or 'Radio' function, even though it was supposed to... and maybe once a month it would randomly get stuck on a song and play it allthe way through before you could change ANYTHING... (VERY bad if you accidently turn it to max...)
The screen broke though, so touch screen went bye bye X__X
Currently waiting for my next MP3 player(In a few more months...)
It's only 60 bucks for a 4gig,so it's a nice deal... but I wouldn't recommend it if you don't know how to mess with Media Player(Sometimes it'll download 4 versions of the same song out of nowhere, wierd as hell)
Also, the headphones that come with it suck ROYALLY I recomend buying another headphone set, as these ones will probably cease to work in a month...

Ipod's tend to generally suck due to the fact that they usually cost nearly twice as much as other comparable and better mp3/mp4 players. That and they just suck in general. However, I don't think that applies to the ipod touch since its basically a stripped down iphone.
I myself am partial to Creative Brand mp3 players. They're pretty much little or no frills but the sound coming out of them is great, and the battery life aint so bad either. I still have this one 256 MB creative mp3 player that I bought nearly seven years ago. The led doesn't light up anymore and the buttons are starting to stick but it still works. If I didn't take it to work with me, it probably wouldn't have those problems, but the fact that it works at all after all that abuse is what amazes me. It was basically in the worst possible environment for electronic devices for several years.
I believe the iRiver can also play open-source formats like flac and ogg, so if you don't want to feed the machine more than you have to, there's also that one.

if u want a good portable device my suggest is an ipod suffle

no offense dude, but iPods are the biggest load of crap ever created...
They're over priced for the same stuff(4 GB for 150$ for an Ipod Nano, I can get a 4GB w/ video for 60$ w/ widgets and stuff and one w/o video for 20$, plus they don't even last as long as KNOCK OFFS(That's pathetic in consumer world, it's good for business, but only as long as the pop culture's idiots continue to buy after they've had countless break)
And... He already said he was looking for an MP3 player that was not in the Ipod brand, as he's had three all of which lasted for very short times

I don't know what you guys were doing with your iPods but I've had mine, an old Fifth Generation 30GB, for nearly three years and it works just fine. When I first got it I had to send it back because it was being stupid but it was still under warranty so it was okay and I've never had to send it back since.
The right channel did stop working for a while but that was fixed for less than $20. And I'm a terribly clumsy person so this thing has been dropped everywhere. And it's totally scratched all over but other than that it's pretty good.
But before the iPod I used to use mp3 CD player thingies, but I've never known any other portable listening music device. Oh, I did have a an iPod shuffle but I gave it to my brother when I got the other one. That one still works too.

I agree
My iPod had 4 cracks on the screen but it's still good
The iTouch is good, but it's made by the same brand, but it has more and better features.
It still plays music. And has games.
