Most shameful 'want to see' movie?

disclaimer: inspired by (idea was stolen from) chibiyusa

Which movie have you wanted to see for a long time, and you know you must see it, and perhaps you even bought it and its sitting on your desk collecting dust, because you still haven't got around to seeing?

For me, it's Godfather. Yes, i know. Stop swearing at me. I'm sorry. I have it, I want to see it, I know I have to see it, but I still have not seen it.

I'm ashamed now. Anyone else want to shame themselves?

for me that would be

Goodfellas
The Seventh Seal
12 Angry Men
Citizen Kane

true classics which i think everyone should have seen. me inlcuded. so pour already the bucket full of shame over my head.

The Seventh Seal (Good shout Bael, beer?)
One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest (Which is sitting on my desk, glaring at me.)
The Deer Hunter (meep)

I just can't find the right moment to indulge myself.

Must say iv seen many parts of 12 Angry Men but not the whole thing, and iv always meant to do so but never gotten around to it.
Iv also not seen the following, and it is AWFUL but film is certainly not my forte and i am working on it!!

Rocky I-V
Indiana Jones - All
Most of the older Arnie/Stallone films

Thats just a starter because if i continue il be killed, but thats a lot of films just there! Im more of a TV person, but my partner loves films and watches far to many so i will catch up, trouble is she has seen most oldies therefore is unlikely to watch them ever. Might have to rope someone into a Rocky Marathon etc some day.

NOOO THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO BE MY THREAD MIIINNNE!!!!
I inspired it sorta, I want in on the goods!

*ahem*

I admit, I have yet to watch the Godfather trilogy myself.

I've borrowed Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb from the library numerous times now but I still haven't watched it.

I would simply go down the IMDB Top 250 List but that might be too shameful even for me.

This isn't a movie really but I bought Gankutsuo (Yes it's an anime I'm a terrible person that ought to DIAF) four months ago and haven't touched it since. It's supposed to be good but I've just been ignoring it. It just sits on my shelf leering at me.

One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest

It took me YEARS of wanting to see it before I finally sat down and saw it, and I was like "WTF!! Why didnt I see this sooner???" - yes, its that good.

And rb6k, i thought my 'Godfather' confession would be bad, but you've never seen ANY of Indiana Jones films? ouch.. you may get flogged for that :)

He also hates all the Star Wars films because he couldn't understand any of them. He's a monster!

At some point soon, I want to create a 'Listal - 100 Movies to See Before you Die.' Thread. All Members get to put forward a film of their choice (as many or as little as possible) which are truly amazing. They have to explain their choice too, so no one word replies.

Then it needs 3 backings from other members to make it to the list. RB6K suggestions need 6 backings because he hates Star Wars and hasn't seen the Rocky's or the Indy's. :P

I know Lude, my parents raised me under the belief that 12's were for 12 year olds, 15's for 15 year olds and 18s for 18 year olds. By the time i knew what i had missed out on i was years to late to bother catching up. I prefer watching series' because the story isn't all wrapped up in say 2-10 hours, i like the long haul of 20+ hours per story. I cant stand some films where everything is wrapped up neatly in 1 hour 50 haha.

Still, no excuse for missing out classics, iv just never had someone say RIGHT this is on tonight, we are watching it! Or someone slap a DVD that wasn't brand new on. (I only saw all the star wars films properly the week Episode 3 came out!!)

Hahaha, i understand the star wars films! They are just over hyped to the extreme. I think they are cheesy and dated, and that there are far better written sci fi franchises in the world now. I know Star Wars started it all of, but it is, in my opinion, very corny.

City of God (brazilian) and Amelie (french).

I really want to see it, and i dont mind subtitles, but they're both long and require a lot of reading. I guess i'm lazy, but I really want to see these one day.

I made a list for this kind of thing just the other day:

www.listal.com/list/films-ought-have-seen-now

Pretty shameful inclusion on there, or so I thought. Never seeing Indiana Jones' is like never being born! How many times are those kinds of films parodied!
vanious 16 years, 1 month ago at Apr 24 23:44 -
The Godfather Trillogy
Scarface
The Running Man
Full Metal Jacket
One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest
The Big Lebowski

And I'm sure there are more must sees that I can't think of right at this moment...Funny how I'll go out of my way to see some obscure B movies and not famous hits.

Ok, desperatly wanted to see for a long time (for years), currently sitting on shelf (for a couple months at least), yet unwatched, the following:

The Thief of Bagdad (1940 Korda version)
Pierrot le fou (Godard)
Alphaville (Godard)
Bob le flambeur (French noir)
Mildred Pierce (40s noir melodrama)
Touch of Zen & Raining in the Mountain (King Hu wuxia classics)
Rashomon
Sansho the Bailiff

Excuse: currently into music, can't seem to balance my two obsessions.

DVDs which have remained on my "buy next month" shopping list for years now:
Lady Eve (Preston Sturges comedy)
Odd Man Out (British noir)
Orphée & Belle et la Bête (Jean Cocteau)
Tirez sur le pianiste (Truffaut)
The Killing (Kubrick noir)
The Apartment (Billy Wilder comedy)
Police Story, City on Fire, Full Contact (HK action thrillers)

Excuse: no excuse, ashamed :(

City of God (brazilian)

Awesome movie, by no means is it anyking of boring euro arthouse "message" film. More in common with Goodfellas or somesuch. Get to it.

Indiana Jones? Like in the video games?

Apocalypse Now
Blade Runner
Forrest Gump
Mary Poppins

These aren't mine, but I can access them at any given moment nonetheless. I happen to own the Jason Bourne Collection but have yet to watch any of those on DVD. I've been wanting to see Seven Samurai for the longest time. I guess I never really thought there'd be a forum thread about what movies I ought to be ashamed of having not seen for all the opportunity.

Well, I did it. I saw Godfather last night. Will add a review in next day or two. Overall, good, but a bit too much. It really could've had a lot of filler trimmed out of it.
vanious 16 years, 1 month ago at Apr 29 18:52 -
Checking off Full Metal Jacket, hoping to check off Scarface and The Big Lebowski shortly.

I'm lagging behind on my review as well :)

Man, its a hard writing a movie you feel indifferent about. its so much easier if you love it, or hate it.
Deleted user
Deleted 16 years, 1 month ago at Apr 30 12:38 -
Just write about that, that you feel indifferent. You weren't passionate about the plot? You couldn't empathize with the characters? Was there another movie with a similar theme that you felt was better? Worse? What changes in the movie would have made you give a crap?

Awww, it's The Ring.
I swear, I don't know how it's possible I haven't watched it yet. Ok, I do know that I started to watch it but I fell asleep almost immediately :D And I never got back to it.

Secretary and Sexy Beast are two I'm a little ashamed to say I haven't seen yet. I hear nothing but good things about both of them, and I've been meaning to see them for some time now, but... Yeah, no excuse here either. ;p

Ones I Don't Own
Scarface
Alien
Aliens
Alien 3
Predator
Predator 2
One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest

Ones I Own:
Slumdog Millionaire
The Hurt Locker
Body of Lies

The only reason I saw Dr. Strangelove is because we had to watch it in class one time.
