Most Anticipated Movies: September

I thought it might be interesting to see what people are looking forward to (aside from checking the listal stats) in the coming month. If people enjoy this, maybe we could make it a recurring post at the end of every month?!

Either way, IMDB has a list of movies coming out in September, so what's everyone looking forward to seeing most?! (of course, feel free to mention foreign or independent films ;)

Personally, I'm looking forward to:
Shoot 'Em Up - I hear there's some ridiculous action sequences, so it's peaked my curiosity.
Resident Evil: Extinction - Pretty much just because I've seen the first two and Milla Jovovich is fiercely hot!
The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford - I've always thought Pitt was fantastic in the westerns or country-style movies, so it will be great to see him get back to what originally made him so popular.

I suppose I'm more inclined to want to see Resident Evil: Extinction and The Assassination of Jesse James.

Not excited about them enough to actually go see them in the theater, though. I'll probably wait to Netflix them.

'Shoot Em' Up' and 'In The Valley of Elah' look most promising, but I also want to see 'Postal' for its controversy and shock value. :)

I'd like to see Cloverfield. I wish they weren't teasing the monster movie fandom with all the secrecy, though... :/

EDIT: After checking that list, I now want to see Hatchet (I read the book in sixth grade) and D-War as well.

the only one that jumps out at me to see is The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford

Shoot 'Em Up is the only one coming in September I'm really eager to see. I really hope it's more John Woo than Three Stooges. Some combination of the two would be groovy, but slapstick gunplay alone seems like a pretty awful idea. And if it takes itself too seriously that could hurt it too (think Equilibrium).

Postal? Uwe Boll? -LOL- Now everyone knows that can't possibly be good. How is he still getting paid?!

And I actually liked Equilibrium a bit, so I wouldn't mind if it's like that... but I heard that it's like crazy stunts. i.e. a gun fight in mid-air after jumping out of a plane-type stuff.

I liked Equilibrium, too -- I think I rated it a 6 or 7 out of 10 -- but the whole gunkata concept was ridiculous. One doesn't have to make lame excuses for heroes to be able "dodge" bullets and be super accurate in action movies, IMO. If the direction and choreography are good then the necessary suspension of disbelief will come naturally.

Wow! My September viewing list is quite long. There's
3:10 To Yuma

The Kingdom: I've been wanting to see this movie since I heard about it in February.

The Brave One

Resident Evil Extinction: Milla Jovovich and Oded Fehr are enough reason to see this. Most people I know hate the series but I enjoyed it so seeing this last one will be fun.

Wow.. a lot of overlap for everyone... I wonder what that says about Hollywood if most people aren't even looking forward to more than half of what's out there.
List-All 16 years, 8 months ago at Aug 28 15:27 -
Vix, why in heck do you want to see that garbage 'The Kingdom'?

In that movie, terrorists attack a US housing complex in Saudia Arabia, prompting a top elite task force to assemble, go to saudi arabia, and taken down the terrorists, first with resistance from Saudi officials, but in end, with their help.

Excuse me while i barf.

truth is saudi themselves sponsor and breed terrorism, and US looks the other way because of all the big oil US interests in that country. I mean, 80% of the hijackers of 9/11 were saudis, but US goes into afghanistan, then Iraq, and now they're threatening Iran.

Despite how good of an actor Jamie Foxx is, I'm going to avoid this movie as it looks like another pro-americana anti-muslim horseshit-fest.

I guess for me it would be:

Shoot 'em Up
D-War

Really? D-War? Haven't heard of it, except for some people calling the director a Korean 'Uwe Boll', which seems like a bad thing. :)

what's the movie about?

The D-War director also remade Yongary - not considered a very good film itself. The reaction is usually five stars for being so bad it's actually funny. I don't think it's fair for whoever's making that Uwe Boll comparison to say so after only one movie (or its equally-unacclaimed remix). D-War's been on the Korea's wishlist for a while, and it sounds like it's getting much more put into it than the previously-mentioned flop.

Here are some articles. SciFi Japan has a few more from earlier dates:

@Movie-A-Holic: The first trailer caught my attention and I'm a sucker for Jennifer Garner. Propaganda piece or not, I'll find out when I watch it.

Resident Evil: Extinction, which is definetly going to the theater for.. But I'm not really a theater fan, so for September I'm actually looking foward to watch movies that are yet to be released on DVD.
