Macromantics

Anyone else checked out the debut album from this Australian "femcee"?

After I heard one of her songs on a local college radio station on the way home on Monday I downloaded the album. I bought a copy on CD, too, of course, and thank gawd, since the lyric sheets are essential if you want to have any chance at decoding her hyper flow.

Some of the tracks are fantastic, like "Eerily Spookily," "Bandwagon," "Love Thyself." A few more, like "Moments in Movement," "Scorch," and "Apple Crumble," are decent. The rest I'm not quite sold on. Cut out the first, fourth, and sixth tracks and it would be a pretty killer EP, IMO.

The lyrics are at turns clever ("my hiss-gawk spit talk stabs discourse with a pitchfork") and cringe worthy ("bah bah black sheep, have you any wool?").

It looks like two other folks she's regularly compared to are the young brit Lady Sovereign and Jean Grae. I haven't heard anything from those two yet. Are they any good?
