Lists getting very little "response"

Ok, my lists are pretty much dead, meaning very little if any response which makes me wonder if I'm missing something?

I see people post nonsesne stuff and within days or weeks they have hundreds of votes while some of my lists have been here for over a year and hardly any votes. What am I doing wrong?

I've also noticed none of my lists ever made it to the front page. I thought all new lists were shown on the front page but I'm probably wrong. "Promoted x hours ago", what does it mean? Does it mean created or is there some other way you can "promote" your lists?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not an attention ho, but still it makes we wonder....and besides, what's the point in making lists if you don't have an audience, right?

And please no pity votes! This is not me fishing for attention, I just want to know if there is anything I can do to get my lists more noticed...maybe I've missed something?

To answer your question about the front page, in order for a list to show on the front page it has to get a pre-set amount of votes that promote it there. I think right now the first promotions comes at 8 or 9 votes.

Also, you don't have very many friends or any followers which means there aren't people who check your lists often. The only way you can really get them is through creating relationships with other users. You need to visit and vote and comment on other people's lists and images.

And, in response to popular "nonsense" lists, they either get votes for appealing to a certain type of listal user or were made by popular users.

In my opinion, you need to find users who have similar tastes to your lists and see if they respond to your interest by looking at and voting for your lists.

I have just checked a few of your lists. They are pretty dry = no text, no video, no pics. Those lists never get much attention.

When I started, I had the same problem. I was making list after list but never get any votes. After a while, it changed though. Tersanay gave you some good tips. Socializing is one key. Another one would be to check the popular lists, I mean the one with more than 100 votes. I don't say to copy them but just check how they are made. Your lists have to stand out, so that when someone check them, he/she thinks 'WOW! It rocks! I have never seen something like that before!!!' if you get that, the votes will come more easily. Personally, I made about 100 (!) lists before getting it right, now I have 4 lists with more than 100 votes and about 120 lists which have been promoted at least once.

In my opinion, to making a list, it's actually pretty creative and if you put a lot of time, work, imagination, patience, it will work out eventually.

Another tip is to advertise your lists into the comment profile of other listal users but I really don't like it, personally.
