Listal's E3 Expo '09 Thread - Games, Games and more Games!

This year, E3, the world's largest and most anticipated Game expo runs from Jun. 2nd to 4th in Los Angeles, previewing, showcasing, and teasing all gamers around the world of what's coming up soon. But beginning Thursday and through to end of expo, major publishers and game developers have started to release info and trailers and teaser videos of some of the huge new titles coming soon.

This thread will list all the major ones.

Note: many of these videos are Gametrailers exclusive, which means they get it first and put their logo on it. Once its no longer exclusive, the logo is removed, and i'll re-upload proper public domain trailers.

As for myself, I only have a PC (but a heavy-hitter box), an old GameCube with all the great titles, and my girlfriend has a Wii. And lately, i'm trying to finish up Zelda: Wind Waker, so the biggest interest of mine is any news on the new upcoming Zelda.

I'm gonna add the ones mentioned above (new Halo, and new Xbox360 Metal Gear Solid) once I get thru them. Added half-dozen new videos already today. Still have 5 pages to go thru.

As for Project Natal, I hope it takes off and does all it claims to do. Microsoft has a long history of actual products falling way short of their presentations and prototypes. And its technology gets a big thumbs up from me, but its blatant rip off of Wii commercials with its Ikea-furnished bright homes with perfect families and friends all laughing and playing together, it makes me sick. I dont mind the Wii ones cause its their style, but how much (or little) did M$ spend on advertising if their campaign is virtually identical to the ones used to pitch Wii titles?

oh, and HUGE news for Nintendo as well. Super Mario Galaxy 2 is announced!

** Resident Evil Archives trailer, a wii-xclusive remake of the original Resident Evil game (note: Shortly after its release, there will also be Resident Evil 0 Archives, a wii remake of RE 0)

** Operation Flashpoint 2: Dragon Rising trailer, a game that will surely make army warfare as close as real life as you can possibly get (but i'm confused by so little interest in it here at Listal.. doesn't anyone remember the original game and how incredible it was for its time?)

** Mafia II trailer, developed by 2K Czech. This is one of my personal most anticipated titles, coming to PS3, X360 and PC.

** APB debut trailer, an exciting new gang vs. cops MMORPG that looks very breath-taking, coming to PC and then X360.

** Another new Dante's Inferno trailer, making going to Hell look even better and better each day.

** Wolfenstein trailer, a new version of the legendary series, coming to PC, X360 and PS3.

** The Saboteur trailer, a great new action-adventure title coming to PC, X360 and PS3.

** Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 debut trailer, a PS3-exclusive sequel to the hit action game.

What a farce. MMOs on Consoles. Thats terrible.

The huge news keep on coming:

Metroid: Other M, a 3rd-person & 1st-person hybrid action game, co-developed by Nintendo & Team Ninja (from Ninja Gaiden fame), will explore a lot more personal world behind Metroid's Samus, the woman behind the suit.

E3 is a very good convention once went to it. I'm not gonna go this year though. Thanks for posting the content that they would be showing this year.

Sony just now announced and showed the trailer for The Last Guardian, the third installment in the ICO and Shadow of the Colossus trilogy! Sadly it's a PS3 exclusive...

Don't really like the Shadow of Colossus games.

Like the full microsoft/sony/nintendo ones, I guess the files would be huge though.

It seems to be broken up into several sections.

Just added video for another Nintendo title, New Super Mario Bros. Wii -- its coming out as a 2D Platformer with four player co-op multiplayer..

Another batch of big new game trailers and announcements added to Listal:


** Left 4 Dead 2 debut trailer, this hot sequel is coming to PC and X360

** Halo 3: ODST gameplay trailer shown finally at E3 09

** No More Heroes 2 debut trailer, the long-awaited sequel for the hit Nintendo Wii game.

** Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker debut trailer, coming to Sony's PSP this year.

In an interview with 'Mario' creator Miyamoto, he said at E3 09 that the new Zelda wii game is coming in 2010, and he wanted some of it shown, but Nintendo is focusing on other things instead at the Expo. So it looks like there will be no big Zelda Wii announcement at E3. He did however mention it will make so much heavy use of the new Wiimote Motion Plus that it may even be forced to require it for gameplay.

He also said Super Mario Galaxy 2 will come out next year, because they are working hard to get the 4-player New Super Mario Bros. Wii out for this year.

And in response to Microsoft's and Sony's full-body motion-sensing peripherals, he said "Our strategy is to get the hardware finished first and then make games, and then make announcements. The things we've seen here (microsoft and sony motion controls) are things we've seen before. I don't know what the best approach is to this kind of gameplay, but they will just expand the market for us. And I think we've created something very natural with WiiMotion Plus at a good price point."

And the long-awaited mystery 'mask' game that has been rumored to be in development by Kojima? drum roll....

** Castlevania: Lords of Shadow debut trailer, with big famous Hollywood names adding their voices to this 2010 X360 and PS3 release. This one will be huge....

There also seems to be a flood of racing games coming out, all trying to act like they are the next-big-thing. But i think they may just over-saturate themselves unless one can stand out above the others:

** Split/Second trailer, coming to X360, PS3, PC

** Forza Motorsport 3 trailer, an Xbox 360 exclusive

** Grand Turismo 5 trailer, a PS3 exclusive that seems to be in perma-development state

E3 is great guys, just wanted to throw that out there. I love being in this industry :D

Any news on Diablo III btw? Date or such.

Diablo III, Starcraft II, and new Zelda for Wii were absent at E3. Nintendo chose to not show it just yet, instead to focus on the two new Mario releases and a new Metroid. And for Diablo & Starcraft, I think Blizzard is saving those for Blizzcon 09, held at the end of August.

Another big release. Let's hope they dont mess this up as badly as they did FF XI.
