total recall - My third favorite Arnie film, a fantastic story with great writing, a great set (The mars set is pretty convincing for an older film!) and the plot is generally great all around.
dogma - A great parody of religion, which i find funny and clever, and it has a lot of classic lines in it.
Passion of the Christ A very moving film, serious and tells the story of Jesus which is a worldwide important story.
Saving Private Ryan Brilliant war film, the acting is fantastic and the story is moving. Suprised GB had to put this on a reminder list!
The Goonies like stand by me, this is a childhood adventure coming of age story that is extremely well written and watchable by even todays standards.
ET Everyone loves ET, it is a classic sci fi adventure which is heart warming and loving. This is a proper family film that everyone can enjoy.
Rocky Horror Picture Show A superb musical film, completely off the wall insane, but fantastic and fun. Everyone should enjoy this insane film.
Die Hard One of THE manliest films on earth. With fantastic lines and brilliant acting, this is a proper action film.
Snatch Like lock stock all of these films are great, proper old school British films about crime and gangs and drugs. All films of this genre are brilliant but Snatch is awesome.
Serenity Whilst this film didn't particularly do well at the box office, i think it is only now making money after years of being released. However this film signifies what the fans can achieve if they set their minds to it, the tie up of a show that was cancelled after 12 episodes wouldn't normally even be made, but Firefly fans (brown coats) were relentless in getting what they deserved, and their un dieing loyalty means this film deserves some respect.
The last king of Scotland I thought this film was going to be shite, but i found it brilliant, it had some dark humor, and a brilliant plot. It tells the story of of Uganda's strife at the hands of a vicious dictator, a good history lesson without the boredom!
Corpse Bride i was going to nominate Nightmare before christmas, but i think CB is a better film personally. I like the all star cast, its great portrayal of the afterlife in comparison to life. And the fact it is a love story about how love can survive beyond death.

The Princess Bride
Clerks- I can't believe I almost let that one slip throught the net!
Nominate-
Mirror Mask- A beautifully created film that flits between reality and make believe. The rich fantasy world is presented to us with fantastic graphics that resemble the work Neil Gainmans (the writer) children's books. The story line follows traditional fairy tales in a style that is relevant and much needed in children's culture today
East of Eden- Adaptation of John Stienbecks novel. Based upon the biblical story of Cain and Abel and the problems of favouritism in families. This is my favourite James Dean film, and is often overlooked.
Tommy- Psychedelic 1970's rock and roll film given to us by 'The Who'. Is boasts a whole host of famous names in pop, rock and film- Elton John, Jack Nicholson, Eric Clapton, and Tina Turner to name a few. Each singing along in the craziest musical I have ever seen! I spent 99% of the film in disbelief that someone was capable of compiling all these ideas together, let alone that other people had agreed with them and decided to fund such a project!
Genius or drug enduced madness, you decide.

I'll nominate:
Saving Private Ryan
The opening scene is a marvel of cinema. It's so intense, sickening and realistic that it left a lasting impression on me after all these years. I don't think it has been surpassed in terms of a battle scene yet. Definitely something I'd recommend to see before it was too late.
The Crow
An intriguing dystopian film noir story that has aged surprisingly well. A great cast and outstanding locations make this a film to remember for all fans of the genre.
Backing:
Lost in Translation
Life Aquatic
Heat
Philedelphia
EDIT: Guess my SPR is a backing, not a nomination.

Unbacking Ocean's Eleven (2001) and Serenity. In my opinion they were both over hyped and under achieving.
There's lots of ways I'd love to use the rest of my backs, but since I can't back movies I've nominated or backed once before I'm kinda stuck, so I'll just take a minute to shame all of you who keep down movies like "12 Monkeys", "The Thing" or "A Clockwork Orange". And remember, if you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem.

Who cares, I'll go for broke here!
Nominating
Hero
My favourite wuxia film to be released over the past few years. The plot wasn't anything ground breaking, but the visuals and the kung fu were outstanding. The colours were so vibrant and memorable and brilliantly interwoven with an enjoyable and entertaining film. Definitely something I would enjoy watching.
Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope
Genre-defining science-fiction which spawned a huge expanded universe and all new levels of fandom across the globe. Iconic characters and a storyline that borders on gospel. Everyone knows this film and the characters involved, which is testament to its qualities.
Outbreak
Better than some other films nominated. An all-star cast is tasked with defending the world from a highly-contagious pandemic virus. Slightly ridiculous in places, but intense throughout. Hilarious opening scene!
Kill Bill vol. 1
At best, QT is an insufferable and smug bastard, but Kill Bill was like nothing I'd ever seen before at the cinema. The same disjointed method of story-telling, but a refreshing blend of different genres and homages to various cinema styles. Left a lasting impression for it's over-the-top violence and soundtrack. Top class entertainment.

Second, Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope.

I dont think I have any backings yet to second, Kill Bill 1 and A New Hope, but I want the backing stage to start. Vivre la revolution!
Actually, yes, we need to have Return of the Jedi up there. Jedi is the best of the Star Wars series. The final battle between good and evil. Revenge, sacrifice, coming of age and redemption; are the key themes in this film, not to mention the Ewoks and X-Wing fighters.

Three more nominations:
Scarface: a great gangster movie that practically everyone praises for the awesome acting of Pachino. Fantastic way of showing Miami and the influence is still noticable today, like in the game GTA: Vice City.
Requiem for a Dream: excellent way of showing what drugs can do with people. It also does not judge the people that use drugs, instead it makes the watcher form its own conclusions.
Monster: An movie with intregety that breaks boundaries as far as taboos on prostutism and homosexuality go.
I still have nine backings in total including the ones I got from the above three nominations so here I go:
Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark
The Good, The Bad and the Ugly
Schindler's List
Alien
Jurassic Park
Beetlejuice
Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels
Stand By Me
The Fifth Element

Can't wait to see the list by the way, too bad City of God ended so low.

Training Day Great Film where Denzel gives a great performance as the bad guy departing from his usual nice guy roles.
The Full Monty A British working class comedy that plays for laugs rather than being needlessly gritty.
Walking Tall Im sure most people will scoff at this suggestion, but this film kind of sums up how i feel about society nowadays. In an area where people are voting BNP due to high levels of petty crime, I would personally love to vote in Chris Vauhan as Sheriff of Tilbury.
The Long Good Friday - The only film I can think of where Bob Hoskins shines as the lead actor and he does an excellent job of carrying this East London gangster flick that doesnt feel the need to rely on sterotypical gangster flick cliches.
Backing:
Forrest Gump
Shaun Of The Dead
The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
Die Hard
Dawn of the Dead (1978)
Toy Story
Monty Python's Life of Brian
The Last King of Scotland

Alright, I guess I'll nominate Escape From New York. I loved it, though I think it subject to taste. Never the less, it has earned a place in pop culture, being the foundation for Metal Gear Solid's Snake and for making eye patches cool again.

Unbacking

Sunshine
I'm probably wrong but I want to give this film a chance as I find it so intriguing. I thought this film would be outer version of the Core. However, it provides a psychological science fiction which doesn't need all the gaps filled with faux scientific fact. Perfectly opposes Fundamentalism and Science. Fantastic.
Training Day, Return of the Jedi, Total Recall and Escape from New York get my support.
I'm unbacking Clerks too!
