Listal's 100 Films To See Before You Die (2011)

Sometime ago, I came ago across this list Listal's 100 Films To See Before You Die, I loved the concept but I wasn't really convinced by the selection. Instead of criticizing the original list, I was advised to create a new one, so, here we go!
Here are the rules :
- Anyone is allowed to participate (you have to be a legitimate Listal members though, no bogus account allowed).
- You have to provide 10 movies, the first one being your favorite movie of all time. The first movie you picked get 10 points, the last one get 1 point.
- The only 50 first reactions will be included.
Listal members involved :

Of course, if you want to check the list : www.listal.com/list/listals-100-films-see-before-johanlefourbe

I've added my 10 in a comment like the others. Have to say, I already disagree with many of the films on the new list :)

Thank you for your contribution.
I have 2 comments :
1. The list is still in progess
2. The list is not supposed to please me, you or anyone else.

What happens if you aren't convinced with the new selection?

At least, I tried... And by the way, the list is far from done but it already looks pretty interesting, don't you think?

yo I made my contribution, yeah it looks pretty interesting so far

When it's done, it would be interesting to see the overlap with the first list. It's certainly looking very different right now.

Good idea!

I have already gathered 50 reactions so you don't have to give your lists anymore! I'm almost done counting points... Keep you posted!

Wow, Inception is #1? I definitely think it was *the* best movie of 2010 but not the best of all time, surely. Anyway, it's an interesting list of quality moves, and that's all can be expected.

Indeed, I have to agree with you. Even though, it is a very good movie, I don't think that Inception is the best movie ever made but it's hugely popular right now.

Why do you list mostly american films? There are lots of great Italian, Spanish, Russian, French, German etc films! And many of them are really toching, much stronger than " Children of Men", "Beetlejuice" or "Pulp Fiction".

@Milk, it was voted by the users, don't blame me if the users don't watch many old European movies.... By the way, neither "Children of Men", "Beetlejuice" were chosen so before talking, you'd probably better check your info....

@johanlefourbe, I do not blame anyone))
I am always suprised, that in all such lists 90% of the films listed belong to american. I do not say they they're bad or something, just that the other countries have great movies as well)
Sorry, I checked this list) www.listal.com/list/listals-100-films-see-before

@Milk
Well when it comes to American movies, they are ones that usually get exported all over the world. It's just a matter of numbers, more people have seen American movies than people have seen from other countries. Here in America it's really hard to see a foreign film in theaters, even American films with foreign languages do badly in theaters. And other places, though I'm no expert, have a lot of American movies showing in theaters. So it's not really about quality, just numbers. That's the way the industry is.

Yes, actually you're right. Until I got really find of cinema about 6 years ago, 95% of the movies that I saw occasionally on TV or in a cinema were american or russian (suprisingly, almost predominantly americal I would say). And it really demands effort, time and first of all a wish to find something different, but when it comes to listing or rating - I thought that it was based on something different rather than just statistics - I mean we all know, for exmaple, that classical music is a real masterpiece, but if we decide to make a rating and base the decision on how often we actually do listen to pop, rock or classical music, I'm afraid it could come to that pop or rock take the frst position, while classical pieces are not worth listening..)
Of course, it is interesting to know the statistics, and if millions of people keep watching this or that film, it might actually be worth watching, but I would not call it 'Best movies ever', 'The list to watch before you die', rather 'The most liked', 'Most popular/successful' and so on..)
