With the exception of Moz, nobody in this thread has listed a band with any sense of musical credibility. I'd put Radiohead at the top of my best bands list. They've churned out consistency high-brow and adventurous music for over two decades now. They are awesome live, creative genii and are totally solid together. Not everyone's cup of tea, which I can appreciate, but they certainly make incredible music.

A lot of people are going to disagree with me but I like the Beastie Boys. More for their rapping than their instrument playing. They never would have gotten as big as they did if they stuck to being another cookie-cutter punk band. Those guys are sick.
AC/DC would also be on my list. For they are the masters of the double entendre. Although I don't know if thats enough to put them in a list like this. Add Sublime and Pantera to the list too.
