List feature chokes up on script

I think the 'list' feature needs to be optimized/revamped/re-done. I made official IMDb Top 250 list with all 250 movies, and the list chokes up on load/refresh, saying script is unresponsive, stop or oontinue. I have to do it twice, wait a fairly long time, and then its displayed.

and yes, i realize I only have 248 movies in my top 250 IMDb list. I need to go thru list and find ones I've missed. If anyone can help me find the 2 i missed, I owe you. :)

We can write descriptions? *falls over*

Anyway, Shichinin no samurai should be number 10 and... The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King should be 9. ;)

danke shone

p.s. did you get the scripting error? and if not, which browser you using, and how long did it take to load the list?

I'm on Mozilla Firefox 2, I always get 2 scripting timeout errors, and it takes maybe 15 to 20 seconds to load.

I'm on IE 7.0, and no script error that I know of. And everything below the title took between 10 and 15 seconds to load for me.

Do you have suggestions on how to improve the lists? or do you just want the current system that isn't so slow? I want to make an easy to use list maker that anyone can use. The current one doesn't handle large lists very well.

4 things I don't like with current lists:

1. very slow on large lists

2. Always have to drag'n'drop, which makes it hard to add to end of lists (I had to build that IMDb Top250 list backwards)

3. Hard to delete an item if it's far down the list. Have to drag and drag and drag until its near top, and then drag it to delete.

4. only shows as 2 column view; it would be nice to customize it to any column, or list view, etc...

Number 3 is one that I would like to see too. I try to keep most of my lists short, but that doesn't always work with my favourites as I get carried away. :P How about a little floating delete thing that scrolls with you?

Why can't specialized lists just be shown in the same format as the owned/wanted/etc lists?! ... and I'll throw my bid in once again for the ability to add personalized notes to a list item.

What about a seperate screen for adding things? I originally thought it was nice to have it all on one page but maybe a minimal screen for adding/reordering would work better.

I think it might be better, as well as improving how to delete items from lists.

I also find that re-ordering should be improved. Rather than drag'n'drop, make it so it doesnt drop until mouse is clicked a second time. That would make moving an item from top of list to bottom of list a lot easier.

I recently started using lists more and more, and it would be great to improve them as there's so many things to do with them. 'Best war movies', 'Best Romance classics', and even this one I did:

Top Box Office hits, adjusted by inflation. Its interesting to see how much it differs from the normal 'top box office' lists that always name Titanic #1, followed by Shrek, Spider-man, LOTR, etc...

and it would be nice to promote such custom lists. I think right now, you can only see your friends custom lists, correct?
