Justice League: 6th Member - Aquaman, Manhunter, or Cyborg?

Rylvan 10 years, 3 months ago at Jan 3 5:39 -
Personally I'd like to see Martian Manhunter, but Aquaman could be cool (in the right hands) and Cyborg would add some diversity. Cyborg's probably the most marketable with his similarities to Iron Man, whereas a lot of people consider Aquaman a joke, and most people have no idea who Martian Manhunter is.

The "Big Five", comprised of the trinity of Batman/Superman/Wonder Woman, plus Flash and Green Lantern, are practically a lock for any potential Justice League movie. They're just too iconic and beloved to be left out. And five is more manageable, especially if they don't start with introductory solo movies like Marvel did.

But what if they did go with six? Who would you choose to round out the team and why?

I realize that this is 6 months back but saw it and felt like leaving a comment. Seeing upcoming films (whether animated or live-action) from DC or Marvel has always left me with a feeling of apprehension. I want to see them but am always wondering just how much they will screw up or change the characters/origins/storylines instead of just staying true to the source material.

It's the same with movies made from books. Hollywood has this great ego that they 'know better' and always change things.

That said, I grew up reading comics (both DC and Marvel - mainly) and would love to see this; especially if it's done right. I was always a fan of a 'Big 7' that has been used many times in the JLA books, over just 5, but I'm a glutton. ;)

I've always preferred team books over most solo series.

Anyway, I agree that Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern and Superman are easy locks. Like you, I would love to see Martian Manhunter, if done correctly. I've never been a fan of Aquaman (always preferring Marvel's Sub-Mariner) and don't like Cyborg at all - besides, he'll always be a Teen Titan to me anyway.

The 7th member that I'd like to see would either be Red Tornado but I'd be happy to see any of the classic Silver Age Leaguers really; except for Elongated Man. They could do the Hawks (Hawkman and Hawkgirl) and that would be pretty cool. They could use Green Arrow, which would play nicely off Lantern or they could use The Atom.

Hell, even Firestorm would be awesome but I doubt I'll see that one!

Still, if it was me, I would forego the whole revamp of characters in the League that DC is doing now and do a retro film of the Silver Age team during the satellite years. That would be something to see.

Looks like they're going with Aquaman and Cyborg. Oh well, maybe we'll get Martian Manhunter in 2021 after Green Lantern's reboot.

If Age of Ultron and Ant-Man do well, Red Tornado and The Atom could have some potential. DC/WB might not want to look like they're copying Marvel by doing such similar heroes, but by the 2020s it probably won't be such a big deal.

I would much rather have Martian Manhunter, with Aquaman being a villainous character at first, but ultimately able to join the League by the conclusion of the film, which would probably lead into a large trilogy involving some powerful villain. I'd prefer Cyborg to remain in the Teen Titans
universe, potentially joining much later on. But that's just my opinion! :)
