James Bond films

Name your favorite James Bond actor (Film or radio) and James Bond film (and or radio episode)

I know people might say this a lot but for me the true James Bond will always be Sean Connery. With my favorite film being, "Goldfinger" to me that movie is everything a James Bond movie should be. The opening song, the women, the gadgets, Odd Job; just everything about that movie was amazing. Feel free to disagree because I like the majority of the James Bond movies. But, thank you for your time :)

This is my favorite Bond film/story, just about the right balance, action, humour and creativity. I do like the earlier Bond films because they relied less on gadgets and more on the charaterisation and depth of stories, thanks for taking the time to respond

Sean Connery and Dr. No, Goldfinger, and You Only Live Twice.

Sean Connery no duh! and i love Goldfinger the best, From Russia With Love comes in at a close second.

"From Russia with Love" is Bond at its best, pure espionage and free from gadgetry.

^ I'd calss the briefcase as gadgetry.
Connery was nothing more than just ok as Bond. I'd have to pick Dalton in The Living Daylights, a latter day cold war romantic spy thriller. Licene To Kill comes in at #2.

What was so gadgetry about the case? All it had was a retractable knife and a few gold sovereigns.

It also had the lock, which if used in the conventional way, would release tear gas from the cartridge inside. The briefase is considered a gadget, otherwise it would be just a normal briefcase and nothing more. But the gadgets doesn't stop FRWL & TLD from being Spy Thrillers. IMO, anyway.

What about the current Bond, Daniel Craig, I think he has an edge to him, a lot more rugged - similar to Timothy Dalton's two outing.
Licence To Kill, for me, was a good revenge drama and the action fast paced.

I dont know why people always say so and so was the true James Bond. Its rubbish. Its blather its its..............crap.
Now everyone always pics Connery or Moore, but the closest actor to ever come to the image created by Ian Fleming was Sir David Niven. I know he wasnt in the Mainsteam MGM/UA movies and that version was a spoof, bhut the fact remains, his dignity and character portrayed Bond. If we are talking about mainstream franchise films, then Timothy Dalton comes the closest.
My favourite is Daniel Craig. The character he portrays doesnt adhere to the formula, but the intelligence behind him is Bond, Only taken into the 21st century. "Will that be shaken or stirred?" "Do I look like I give a damn"
Yeah ok rant over Long Live Eon Productions

Casino Royale

I liked the 4 films that starred Pierce Brosman

Live And Let Die was the peak - varied action, good stunts, funny, a nice ambiguous ending plus one of the best Bond themes ever...back when Bond movies were actually worth watching...strangely I prefer Connery to Moore as Bond though - Daniel Craig does have something though just a shame the recent movies have tried to be "realistic" and are quite dull

James Bond has nothing to do with "realistic" spies. In the real world, spies are picked for their non-discript apperance and ability to blend into the background.
Bond is the flashy, daring, devil-may-care, sexy stud in the tuxedo and center of attention in the casino. He is bedding babes and disposing of evil-doers with equal ease.
Connery will forever own that role.

@blankend - this is why imho the Moore era films are the most enjoyable as they do not pretend to be serious

Sean Connery can never be beaten in my opinion abd the earky Bond films were the best my favorite being Thunderball.
