Improve the rating system

The rating system on this site is a joke if im being honest. It's flawed the fact that you can vote for a movie that is not even out yet is just sad and a lack effort from the dev's on this site. since when does not upgrading a site help it....... oh that's right never.
yet that is just one of the many problem with this site though i don't feel like getting into them as i know "you people will get mad" some people on this site have soft feelings

The rating system is indeed not perfect but it doesn't bother me much. There are bigger issues right now but that's just my opinion.
By the way, you should post this kind of threads in the 'Feedback' forum.

either way this site is just not improving

Actually for a short time there was a system in place where you could not vote for films that hadn't been released. However, that feature was scrapped.
You just wind up with people rating a movie the second it is released. The same thing happens on IMDb, I always love to see the new film that just had a limited release in New York some how wind up on IMDb's list of top 250 highest rated films of ALL TIME...
This is not my site and I do not influence the features that get introduced in anyway but I personally feel that blocking people from rating items not available is a waste of system resources and coding resources. It is an minor annoyance that only really gets fixed by waiting for the 'hype ranking' to die down.
The rating system will always be skewed... it is skewed on every single internet site that lets users rate items. Somehow even Metacritic seems a bit skewed.
People voting for films that haven't been released or films that there is no way that they could possibly see... would require changing the human race which isn't a coding issue.
People who go to the theater to watch "Super New Eye Candy" figure that they will like the film and then rate the film high. People normally don't go to films that they know they are going to hate so it takes a considerable time for a films ranking to normalize, with or without putting a coding system into place.
