IMDb linked profiles being considered "verified"

Likho 9 months, 3 weeks ago at Jul 13 19:14 -
Hello everyone, I have encountered a rather irritating issue.

A new user has been deleting all content [photos and videos] from celebrity profiles created years ago, reporting them as adult and duplicate, despite the profiles being updated - only because they were not linked to the IMDb database, and they have used that as a validation of their actions. And then they re-upload the content as themselves.

This of course is infuriating, as oftentimes several users have put their time into up-keeping the profiles over the time.

Can any moderators please help me understand if IMDb has recently became a standard for which profiles are more valid?

I'm not sure if you're referring to Ella-Rae Smith's profile, but somehow, two versions were created from the IMDb link. I reported it and the mods decided that the profile without her movie and TV credits would be vacated. Marking them as adult, I believe, prevents people from uploading more pictures to the wrong profile.

This is in reference to the dozens and dozens of duplicate Korean boy/girl band profiles.

You should always check and use the profile linked to IMDb and not just create your own profiles with name modifications that do not display acting or music credits. Just because they went unnoticed for years doesn't make it okay.

IMDb has always been the standard for profile creation.

Thank you for the clarification~

Is there then way to add the IMDb profile to already existing profiles?
I have seen some change so I am presuming there is a way to do it.

I've noticed that you can only link a IMDB page to already existing listal pages is if the name on listal and IMDB are exactly the same. Which is why you sometimes see IMDB links linked to pages that aren't even the right person. I run into this sometimes when adding IMDB links, them linking to a completely different person by the same name.

Case in point
actress Camila Moreno's IMDB page linked to a completely different model by the same name
www.listal.com/camila-moreno-i (actress)
www.listal.com/camila-moreno (model)

actress Jessica Sutton's IMDB page linked to a completely different model by the same name
www.listal.com/jessica-sutton-ii (actress)
www.listal.com/jessica-sutton (model)

(and other examples I can't think of right now lol)

So it's a matter of who gets added first.

Oh - figured it out!
Essentially, copying and pasting the IMDb profile onto the search bar on listal, while having the correct profile opened links them together.

If there is a name difference - it can also be adjusted in the IMDb database, that way we avoid creating extra duplicates for profiles.

Yes, I have the same issue. This person is reporting a lot of profiles I created, even when I explained that, at the time, they did not have an IMDB profile. I wouldn't care so much if they reupload all the photos I posted to the new profile, but they don't and I can't use the old profile/photos.

I've just looked some more and the person doing this is reporting profiles where the person does not have an IMDB profile yet, just for the sake of having the one they created as the "main one".
Example:
I created a profile for a k-pop idol that does not have an IMDB page and posted 215 photos there.
The person created a new profile for this idol, reported mine and upload 37 photos.

Now I can't use the photos I was using and have so research and reupload more than 100+ pics.

@darthmasco, SMH. Is it only those K-pop celebs?
FWIW, I've lately been in the opposite position: I've created a bunch listings from IMDb for low-budget movies and such and ended up having to create profiles for the actors just to populate the movie's profile.

This specific user has been doing it mostly for korean idols~ sometimes even re-editing old profile as completely different person bc the IMDb name matched; its a whole mess.
Darthmasco 9 months, 2 weeks ago at Jul 20 17:59 -
@trekmedic as far as I know is only for korean celebs.
