Images Rules

Is this rule still valid?
Rule 18: images which are extremely similar to each other.

I did reported a lot of images based on this rule and they were rejected.

Yes, it's still valid. It applies to images where for example, the company photoshopped the color of an outfit so they wouldn't have to take multiple pictures, so you'll see the same picture but the shirts are different colors. It can also apply to event or outing pictures where paparazzi take pictures within seconds of each other and all the poses are similar.
But we tend to judge that based on how many pictures get uploaded for each event. The events/outings you reported only had a few pictures posted for each anyway, so we didn't feel the need to prune them. We also don't always take it if we feel there is enough variations in the poses. Same outfit and location in the pictures is not enough.
Hopefully that more or less answered it.

It's a tricky one and, like Maggie said, it depends on extreme similarity and the amount of pics uploaded. Having a dozen pics of someone walking down the street, for instance or someone at a show standing in front of a backdrop in numerous, slightly different poses and angles.
That is nothing more than Image spam for points. The celebrity galleries are filled with this crap, too. We've been concentrating more on the nudity/adult pics but the paparazzi plague will be dealt with, too.

For images that you think are extremely similar, it's best to report them as duplicates. It makes it much easier for us to see if they really are similar enough to warrant deletion.
If you just report them as "other" and say that an image is similar to another one. It's harder for us to make a call and therefore, we are more likely to reject it.

I see what you mean on this Isabelle but to be honest we've already weeded out some of those images. As a person who frequents Candice's gallery I don't have a problem with it. Yes, it's a little excessive but I think that only ones that are extremely similar should be deleted, as in those that were taken seconds apart and the person hasn't moved except for a slight facial expression change. I think that is what the rule is there for. I will look through these particular pics and see if any fit the bill.
For the record, I did not reject the reports personally, just putting that out there.
EDIT: I also tend to delete images where the person isn't looking directly at the camera or their eyes are closed.
EDIT 2: Seeing as though many of these images have multiple votes I don't think users have much issue with the amount that are posted. I have deleted a few, as I uploaded some myself.

Well ... Iยดm watching the show of Penn & Teller on youtube.

Aye, the woman scratching the cute guy's chin is clearly a troll.

Haha. I must admit that page she was referring to was excessive. I did delete some. I had to look for shits and giggles.
I love me some trolls. The ones in The Hobbit were very cute :)

Haha. Yes, more cute-acting than cute-looking. Just like most men it's the only hope, a cute attitude.

Ahh, well I had these guys beat by a mile on looks. A cute attitude? Looks like I'm two-for-two! Any other requirements I should know about? 8)

There are way too many requirements to list. Us ladies are a picky bunch.

Haha yes for sure. Many women are significantly less picky though. My husband never does those things and I still love him.

(lol) Well, if this was expected of us poor souls on a regular basis, I think we would all be out of luck! I do think it's a good way to start things off and is a very nice surprise once in a while. 8)
It's the little things in between that matter most, I think.
"Let us tend the flame of romance, lest it flicker, fade and die;
For our hearts were made to love and be loved in turn."

Romance? Sod that! Let 'em dwell in the kitchen and make pie! Aye, that's the ticket!

Pork... you're out of luck!

Pork....pie? Ah...it's that love of bacon rearing it's head again. I get that! ;D

Mmmm Topics... hazelnut, toffee and other stuff... nougaty goodness!
Food is always a good way to make a thread more interesting.
Now, who let you out of the kitchen?

You should be careful about kitchen jokes. Kitchens are where all the knives are.

Ok, I'm off to bed... don't think I'm hiding, because I'm not... much!

The thread's topic is a lot more productive now, wouldn't you say? Seriously, how many new threads about images rules do we need posted anyway?
I have a brand new knife set if you need to borrow one, Mags. ;)
You do know how to 'peel an onion', don't you? (lol)
