I'm not sure if this is a bug or not.

One thing I've noticed at Listal is that there is never a full cast review on a lot of films. Many of the casts leading actors are often left off of the cast list and I wondered if there was some way that this could be change. The most prominent example I can think of from the top of my head is the absence of Elijah Wood from all of the lord of the rings films. Worst still they don't appear in his 'all films starring Elijah Wood' section, when I imagine they are probably the epitome of his career.

Could we get a full cast review for each film?

editing of cast list is coming, according to Tom.

I'd prefer a customized list, as opposed to a full cast list. i don't want no-name extras and/or cameo appearance count towards their credit. it should just be main and key characters.

but the way I envision it is if Listal pulls ENTIRE cast list from IMDB, and then we get to place checkmarks next to ones that are key characters, perhaps re-order them as well, and only those that are 'checked' would count as key appearances that would show up on actor's profile page.

I agree that I don't want a bunch of extras flooding the cast list. That checked/asterisk idea is a good one, but somehow for some films, IMDb manages to rank the cast in order of highest importance to lowest. I wonder how they do that?

Imdb credits are ranked based on order of title credits.

Getting the full cast list is an option (I do try and minimize the ammount of data from imdb though) or just allowing people to edit the cast list in a similar way you can edit authors on books at the moment.

What about including the actual name of character played?

yes! that would be awesome, to have character names included.

Great idea to add character names.

This is also a problem with TV appearances. The way IMDb has it now, people are only listed if the are listed on IMDb in per show appearances - users would have to actually put which episodes an actor appears in. Even though an actor appeared in every episode, if they're not entered into the database, they may not show up, but a guest star could, because they would be entered on a particular episode(s). There are many of the main/star/lead actors that don't even show up on the main page, but do under the fold (I can only remember one for sure, and that's Eliot Gould of the first E/R).

I've noticed this too most recently when I got Amazing Grace.

www.listal.com/dvd/amazing-grace- I was under the impression Ioan Gruffudd played the lead role in this movie but he's not listed on the cast list at all... oh dear. oh dear...

It'd be really nice if we can edit the cast lists and such ourselves, but it might need a bit moderation @_@

Alot of times DVDs don't even match what the movies in terms of the cast list. I attribute this of course to the fact that one is getting it's information from Amazon and the other from IMDB. I'm not sure how much work it'll be but perhaps it'll be in the best interest to somehow ahh... integrate it all? Not that I have any suggestions of course on how to do that...

I think some things should have that ability to be LOCKED by moderators. Time's up, all the characters and their dramatists have been listed! This section can never be accessed again, at least by you non-Mods!

I'd hate to think everyone in the Lord of the Rings movies could be listed and then deleted by some goober, even if the update is charted. Hardcore banning would need to result from such action. And from there, corporal punishment if that can be managed.
