How do you add new items

Devious Phenomenon 17 years, 3 months ago at Mar 16 4:03 -
I finally got to 5000 Points, and I'd like to start filling in the Anime part of the lists, because they are quite lacking in my opinion(Mainly because there has been a sudden rush in brand new animes this year)

I want to add in a few different Animes(Such as Wolf and Spice and Shakugan No Shana) However, I do not know HOW to add those into the TV shows part(I found out how to add books, but I can't do the same thing for TV shows)

You add new TV shows, as well as movies, thru IMDB. You don't even need 5000 points for that.
Step 1: go to www.imdb.com and search for the show there, and go to the page of the show
Step 2: at Listal, go to your main tv or movie page (you know, my stuff: movies, TV shows etc.)
Step 3: click "ADD" on the left side of page, you get a menu
Step 4: in the "Using imdb url or number" field, put either the IMDb number or the entire url in the field. Then click either "add to watched" or "add to want to see".

The IMDb number is the tt12345 kinda number in the url, for example:
www.imdb.com/title/tt0065780/
or you can just put the entire address.

It don't matter if the show already exists at Listal, because the IMDb numbers are unique, and there'll be no duplicates. You could add "The Matrix" this way, but it wouldn't create a duplicate, it would just add the existing movie to your collection.

The downside of this is, anything you add to Listal you have to add to your collection, even if you don't own it. Trick is to then delete it from your collection. The item will still remain at Listal.

After you've added the item:
If the animes have Japanese titles, and the English titles aren't imported from IMDb, you can edit the movie title (yunno, click "edit"):
In the "Title (English)" field you put the international English title (if the show doesn't have an English title, the Japanese title should be in this field)
In the "Title (As released)" field you put the original foreign title. So don't just delete the Japanese title, but switch it into a new field.
Or you can just ignore me and do like Prelude does, cause he has his own rules. He just whips everything in the "Title (English)" field.

too much info?

Oh yeah, and in the "item description" you can add a brief description or plot synopsis in your own words. However, do not add a review or your own opinions like some have done.

Okay, so this naming scheme works with all the media on the site. First the english or international title and then in the brackets its original title?

For movies & TV anyway. You're supposed to put them in different fields in the "edit item" so that the original title in brackets appears only on the item page, but on "my movies", actor pages etc. you only see the English title.

But alot of people are doing it differently, and whipping it all into one field. Don't know why.

edit: revived an old thread to ask about it
