The Hobbit will be divided in 3 movies!

What do you think? Are you happy or pissed off about this?
Personally, I'm a little worried... 'The Lord of the Rings' were 3 huge books and 3 movies was a good idea but 'The Hobbit' was one single childbook so I'm not so sure if it will benefit from being streched over 3 movies.
So, any thoughts?

I'm sure Peter Jackson will do The Hobbit justice. (After all, he did an excellent job on the Lord of the Rings!)
Even though The Hobbit is a much smaller book, compared to the how big the Lord of the Rings are, I think making it into just 1 movie would be a mistake. I actually would prefer it to be at least 2 movies, if not 3, so key parts of the story are included. Just my opinion though.

Yeah, I was allright with 2 movies but I'm not so sure about 3 movies. Of course, I will watch all of them anyway.

Meh. I'll just have to make extra room on my shelves.

Sounds like a good plan to me, even if it feels stretched or spread a little too thin (which I doubt) that is much better than leaving lots of things out and not doing the story justice. Then it would be just another bland, lacking, pointless adaptation. I'm glad to see people wanting to put money and effort into an adaptation to make it the right way.

I heard on the internet that it could be the first completely literal adaptation ever made. What I mean by that is that when they adapt a book, they always remove some stuff. This time however, they will put literally EVERYTHING that was in the book something which has rarely been done especially if such a book. My feelings are still mixed. On one hand, it is an interesting idea but, on the other hand, movies are really different than books and there is a good reason that they remove some (for example, the pacing doesn't work the same way). We'll see ....

The problem is is that I think The Lord of the Rings should have been more like a mini-series to cram everything into it, and considering the fact that The Hobbit is shorter than every single one of the Lord of the Rings books makes it ridiculous that Peter Jackson will be splitting it up into the same amount of time LOTR had. I think The Hobbit would be better with two movies or even just one very long one.

Yeah, I admit I found the idea of making The Hobbit a two-film series to work for me but yeah, a trilogy of the shortest LOTR book is pretty ridicilious. I'm not sure how great that'll work considering the first Hobbit film wasn't as huge of an box office success as the past LOTR films.

@Ricky49er Just to let you know The Hobbit: An Unexpected has made Over 1 billion Worldwide and is only 100 million behind LOTR:ROTK for the top spot so i wouldn't say that it wasn't huge box office movie compared to the others

Yeah, that was my error. Still I'm not sure how they're going to pull off a Hobbit trilogy successfully.

Technically I think they are actually incorporating elements of The Silmarillion and other of Tolkien's Middle Earth poetic/short prose in order to make three movies. But basically I think it's fairly horrible, The Hobbit should have been one movie, the studio is only interested in squeezing as much money out of their franchise as possible. It really is as simple as that.

I think that Peter Jackson will made another great trilogy like the LOTR ,but for now i prefer the first saga than the Hobbit.I think it's like more fairytail and the effects are soo soo in the cam effect green screen but i Jackson wanna put us in that story and make us to believe for all those things. Can't wait to see the second chapter in the theaters
