Help! What are these?

Maybe some of the members who know more about games than I do can help me out with this. There are two games I played several years ago but can't remember for the life of me what their names are!

Game 1: RPG adventure game with a Japanese animation style that I played on the PS2 about five years ago. Rented it from a Blockbuster, so I think I only had about two days of game-play.

All I can really remember about it was a young boy who had to play a flute for royalty to get out of some sort of trouble. This was before Guitar Hero and its ilk, but it used the same concept: you hit buttons on the controller to play the instrument. I remember a really detailed little town with with tons of NPCs - but that's all I can remember! Anyone know what I'm talking about?

Game 2: RPG adventure game with Japanese-influenced American animation style. Character animation similar to that of Radiata Stories. And once again, I rented this for only a few days (for the PS2), so I don't remember too much about it. Played it about five or six years ago.

There's a princess (blonde hair if that helps...) who's also a warrior who rides a white horse and goes around killing things in the forest. The animation for the horse was pretty shite. Seriously, this is all I can remember. :/

Any help would be much appreciated.

Sounds like legend of zelda but that was only on nintendo.
