Help with this list: Hybrid gaming

www.listal.com/list/hybrid-gaming-crossing-genre
I need help with this one. Any suggestions for games that are considered hybrid, as in blending 2 or more established genres? I'm talking about major cases, not some games that add a tiny bit of RPG into the mix - i'd rather keep the list to games that can be fully considered worthy in either genre.
thanks all!

I think that Dark Cloud 2/Dark Chronicle for PS2 is a good example of an hybrid game. RPG and an action game at the same time.

Hmm What about Fall out 3? That has RPG elements and shoot em up elements.

A game I used to play called Neocron was a cross between a FPS and MMORPG and there was also planetside which has a similar mix.

Nice one, Sakai. Yeah, many RPG give FPS-style combat, but Fallout 3 seems to take it to the next level. When fighting, it really feels like a bona-fide FPS game.
Thanks Tom, i'll look into that one as well.

Whats the best example of a Turn-based strategy game (Civ IV style) where unit battles go into RTS mode (C&C style)? I think there's a few like that, but which does it the best?

I don't know if you agree about the games of the Penumbra series. A very interesting and rather innovative mix of survival horror, adventure and action.

Oh, and Square Enix created a series of video games that turn into real-time strategy during battles, but I don't really remember what they were called. Oh wait, I remember. I think that they were called Final Fantasy? ;-)

metal gear acid and metal gear acid 2 - both had the stealth/sneaking aspects of the metal gear series mixed with a turn-based strategy game
ephemeral fantasia - this one is a maybe...it's mostly an rpg, but it has quite a few scenes within it where you need to play a guitar, like in a music game. if you have the guitar freaks guitar controller (it's japanese) you can plug it into the ps2 and use it to complete the guitar scenes in a fashion similar to the more commonly-known guitar hero games.
pretty much any grand theft auto game (from III on up) - they have so many genres blended into the games that even if the developers didn't invent it, they pretty much put the sandbox-style of game on the map.
parasite eve and parasite eve 2 - blended survival horror together with turn-based rpg combat and other rpg elements...the second one added more survival horror elements to the mix, too.
rez - kind of a mix between a shooter and a music game
animal crossing - almost a mix between an adventure game and a compilation game with all of the nes games that you can discover and play in-game
hannah montana: the movie - i'm ashamed that i know this, but it's an adventure game mixed with a music game...though neither are done very well
road trip adventure - a mix of an adventure game with racing/driving with a sprinkle of rpg elements added in.
castlevania: symphony of the night - it's mostly an action game, but it's got enough rpg elements in it to cause some debates over whether it's an rpg or not, too
actraiser - mixed between side-scrolling action and building towns with strategy-like gameplay
i can probably think of plenty more...but that's a decent chunk for now. hope it helps.

twisted metal series - mixed fighting and driving
