Haven't been able to add movie since Dec 28th

BookriderDancing 17 years, 4 months ago at Jan 8 23:02 -
I put a number of movies in on Dec 28 only to find ONLY ONE was actually saved even though the page came up to say each of them had been accepted. I added it by the IMBd number.

I keep returning to add a movie. I keep trying "The Firm" but the program will not accept "want to watch" or any rating. I have never been able to get it accept a movie unless I do one or the other. Right now I can't get it to accept either. I click to save it to my movies but it does not save it.

I have read the forum problems. I do have JavaScript enabled. I do not know what could be the problem.

Which browser are you using? I tried to add that movie and it worked in both internet explorer and firefox. I can really think of anything that could be wrong unless you have some software that is interfering (e.g. antivirus software)

What does it do exactly when you click the link? (e.g. does a 'wait' cursor appear?) Have you tried clicking the links on the actual item page?

If you paste the imdb number(s) here I can check to see if there is a problem with those specific numbers.

I am using Internet Explorer. I have McAfee Virus Scan from Aol.

I am a bit illiterate computer wise. I do not understand all your questions.

There is no wait cursor, the hour glass on my computer.

I enter "The Firm" and click enter. It shows up. I check the box. I try to check either a star or "want to watch." Neither will take. When I click somewhere else the stars go back to grey. The words never turn green. I select "Movies' and then "Add to List." I get "Items has been added to your list and should appear below." However the movie has not been added. I did this with several movies so I do not believe it is with anyone particular.

Before sending this message I tried to put "The Body Snatchers' on my list using the imbd number and it accepted it that way, but still would not accept a movies using the search method you provide.

I do not know how to do whatever your last question is. Could you explain it further. Thank you for your time.

For one thing, it's not necessary to check the box. That comes in handy for a couple of Listal's functions, but you can probably just click Watched or something and it'll be added. Though if you just click a star rating right off, that won't always add it to your collection as the exact criteria that you're looking for (ie - Read instead of Owned for Books). And I know double clicking's kind of compulsive computer activity, but you may need to do so for the star ratings and other collection criteria that don't show up at first. It sometimes doesn't go through on the first take.

If the program would accept it when I clicked Watched or a star rating it might work. However, it is not accepting either. I just tired again. No over clicking. Any new suggestions? At this point I am assuming this is an individual computer issue, not a listal issue, Thanks for your help.

When that happens, I open the item page and do it from there. If that doesn't work... Hammer to computer, or scrap metal to money. Unless Tom has any reason for you to keep your machine.

I would be interested in knowing if the rating works for you on an actual item page.

The firm was added here at the bottom of the list :
www.listal.com/list/movies-bookrider

It might be worth disabling the virus checker or any other software which may be interfearing to see if that has any affect.

Finally a solution!! Last night after being on Listal I noticed a tiny alert at the bottom of my screen. There were errors with my browser. I went to my browser (Internet Explorer) site and downloaded updates. It fixed the problem. I can only guess that while I was gone and my computer was off for five weeks there was an update I missed that impacted my ability to use the links. While my computer is set for automatic updates. Thanks for your time.
