Have you seen it all?

Well have you?!?!!
When you rate a film, have you watched the film front to back?
I'm pretty sure there are some people out there who think they got the jist of a film by watching the first half hour and therefore think they have the right to rate it. I feel you have to watch a film ENTIRELY before you should rate it. Not because it'll change your mind but because you obviously put the film on in the first place or went to the cinema for a REASON.
Yeah, you can leave and get your money back but what does that mean? The Production Team aren't gonna shed a tear because you walked out.
Also, what makes you turn a film 'off'? If anyone says because it was 'bad' they can roll over and die. I want an explanation people. Do a PvtCaboose and point me to your review if you have too!

www.listal.com/list/movies-had-shut-off
Im making a list of all movies i had to walk out of, or shut off, sometimes half way thru, sometimes within first 15 minutes. I'll finish up the list with explanation, though i do have reviews for quite a few of them.
As for rating, YES, i feel i have the right to rate something if it was so horrendous I was compelled to rather waste money and shut it off, then to sit thru it, hoping there would be some redeeming quality. I never shut off films that are boring, and if i do, i dont rate those. But films that get shut off because they made me ANGRY, PISSED OFF, SICKENED, or otherwise shaking my head in disgust at its stupidity, yes, I have every right to rate it.
Good question though. :)
p.s. i put up more personal photos on my profile to distract u, mate! lol

If it was a film I intend to finish I'll probably hold off on rating it. If it's something I have no intention of finishing I'll probably just rate it then and there.
I don't turn a film 'off' per se, it's more like I just fast forward through what I perceive as "boring" and just get to the end. That or I just fall asleep somewhere in the middle and maybe wake up for the end. If it's good enough in the end I'll watch what I missed, if not I doubt I'm missing much.

I usually have to watch a full movie to feel I have the right to bash it - unless of coruse, it's something like, say, John Tucker Must Die. That movie I felt okay with walking out on and rating.
But I do feel bad about rating movies I haven't seen in an extremely long time - like Disney movies or kids movies. I mean, now I'd think they were terrible, probably, but when I was younger I thought they were great. So how do I rate those? I still do, despite the fact that I feel like I may be judging them unfairly.

I don't rate any movie that I haven't seen all the way thru b'cuz that means that it sucked. Therefore, if it wasn't worth my time finishing watching it,
then it definitely isn't worth any more of my time (not even a half of a second) rating it.
Heck, I rarely even rate bad movies that I've seen all the way thru.
I try to put the focus of my free time on stuff that I love.

I've never done such things. As a movie buff, I force myself to sit through any and all movies no matter how terrible. If I do shut a movie off, I don't rate it. Instead I return to it a few days or weeks later, watching it from the beginning. I take pride in my morals when it comes to movies.
Btw Unholy Alliance, I find it offensive that it's now become a stereotype for me to provide a link to my reviews. I sometimes do it...whoopty f**king do!
I pump 2 hours into each review sometimes...shouldn't I be able to be proud of my achievements?

I only rate or review stuff within a month or so of playing/watching/listening all the way through it, anything beyond a month and my memory starts to skew it, unless it's classic stuff.

If something is so terrible that I can't finish it, it certainly deserves to be rated accordingly.

I'm with Berning on this one. However, there are only a few movies (I can count them on one hand) I've actually had to shut the eff off because I just could not take it anymore. And I'm talking really, supremely painful viewing here. :/

There are a handful of films I've rated before without seeing the entirety of the film, if I catch it on TV about ten minutes in for example, but whenever I've missed a part I'll check a plot synopsis afterwards to see what exactly I missed out on.
That rarely happens though, and I wouldn't even bother rating a film if I hadn't seen at least 90% of it, even in the above scenario. Even the most turgid films I generally sit through until the end.
I think that on Listal, people can get carried away and rate for the recognition though. You can tell when someone is voting on a prejudice or if they're likely to have never actually seen the film they're voting for. Pretty sad, but each to their own I guess.

Usually I watch a film in its entirity not only once, but sometimes twice.
If we're talking about Meet the Spartans, or the appalling Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning then that's a different story. But something harmless worth 2/5 or above I'll put on another time while writing my review (if I can of course. If it's a cinema movie or a *ahem* downloaded movie I cannot likely watch it again).
Watching it a second time allows me to get it into my head more effectively to avoid the refreshers that I'm now suffering the burden of going through (heh, about 800 to go)

I always rate a film after watching it from beginning to the end, otherwise I can not say that I watched it!

Any movie I've reviewed or rated, or will do so, I have seen from beginning to end.
What would be the point otherwise? I tend to judge a movie on whether or not I feel like I wasted my time, or not, watching it. Some movies I love are definaty classics like "The Godfather" and then are
movies like "The Devil Bat" which is in no way a classic but I do enjoy it.
I don't think of such movies as guilty pleasures. Why apologize for what you like?
Sorry, I guess I strayed off topic a bit.
