Good Miscellaneous Animated Movies

MaxL 11 years, 5 months ago at Nov 19 23:38 -
Hi, guys. Can anyone recommend any good animated movies to me? I'm thinking of putting together a top ten list of my favourite miscellaneous animated movies, you see.
What do I mean by miscellaneous? Any movie that's not from what I consider the four dominant animation studios: Disney, Pixar, Studio Ghibli and DreamWorks. I haven't seen many animated movies outside of those four catalogues, so any recommendations would be appreciated.

For the record, here's my list as it currently stands:
#7 = ParaNorman (2012)
#6 = The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists! (2012)
#5 = Rio (2011)
#4 = Superman: Doomsday (2007)
#3 = The Land Before Time (1988)
#2 = Batman: Mask of the Phantasm (1993)
#1 = Watership Down (1978)

I should also mention that there are a few that I have on DVD but haven't got round to watching yet. So the following four might potentially end up on the list: The Girl Who Leapt Through Time (2006), Green Lantern: First Flight (2009), Origin: Spirits of the Past (2006) and Wonder Woman (2009).
Another two that I suspect might also be candidates are Akira (1988) and The Iron Giant (1999).
So I might potentially have already filled the top ten here โ€“ I don't know. But I want to see as many as possible anyway, so, like I said, I'm open to your recommendations.

Here's a few decent ones (in no particular order):

The Adventures of Tintin (2011)
The Iron Giant (1999)
Fantastic Mr. Fox (2009)
The Phantom Tollbooth (1970)
9 (2009)
Arthur Christmas (2011)
Ice Age (2002)
Wallace and Gromit: Curse of the Were-Rabbit (2005)
Chicken Run (2000)

Yeah, The Iron Giant (1999) is pretty good. Tbh, I'm not a fan of Akira aside from the visuals.

I'd rec anything by Satoshi Kon (Perfect Blue, Tokyo Godfathers, Paprika, Millennium Actress), Ghost in the Shell (I'm partial to the original, not the GiTS 2.0 eyecandy update) and Ghost in the Shell: Innocence.

Your list is pretty "tame" and child-friendly, so I'm not sure these would be your cup of tea, but Mind Game - if you like surreal mindfucks meant for adults - and, definitely, the amazing Cat Soup/Nekojiru-so, one of the most relentlessly trippy and obscure movies I've ever seen.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988)
La gabbianella e il gatto (1998) (aka "Lucky and Zorba")
South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut (1999)
Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within (2001)
Appleseed (2004)
Simpsons The Movie (2007)

Agree on Ice Age and Ghost in the Shell.

Secret of Kells. Beautiful looking animated movie out of Ireland, unique plot about monks trying to build fortification against vikings and a young boy wanting to help a monk illuminate the book of Kells. One of my favorite movies.
