Game Platform Search

trovster 19 years, 8 months ago at Oct 25 10:31 -
I'd like to be able to narrow my game search down to platform. I have a PC and a PS2. So, obviously, I don't want results for the Xbox or GameCube. I'd like to b able to search within that platform, eg, just for PC games, as a lot of titles are on numerous platforms.

I agree. This would be handy.

Only problem is I have noticed a lot of the tags associated with items are flat-out wrong.

That's where my other suggestion would be useful: when searching thru other people's tags, sort the results based on how many times that tag was used, not by over popularity. So if one person put 'flight sim' for Half Life 2, and someone searches thru 'flight sim' tag, they wont have HL2 displayed in first place, just because of its one incorrect tag. Instead, it might display Flight Simulator X first, because it probably has highest number of 'flight sim' tags attached to it.

Platform has nothing to do with tags, it's determined by amazon or user entered entries.

I am actually currently writing a script to merge some of the platforms e.g. 'Board Game, board/card, Boardgame' will become 'Board Games' and 'DOS, Win 9x, Windows, Windows 3.1, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 98 / XP / 2000, Windows 98/ME/2000/XP, Windows Vista, Windows XP' will all be merged into 'PC games'

Platform search would be nice I agree, I hope I will be able to add that soon.

You should leave a difference between DOS games, games only for the win9x platform and games only for the NT platform... IMHO
