the fundamental problem with TAGS

I'm beginning to think relying on others to add tags is a big 'drawback', not a 'feature' of this site. Why? Because all it takes is one moron to ruin it for everyone.

Take this for example. I wanted to do a search thru 'slapstick' to find such style of comedies.

slapstick: A boisterous form of comedy marked by chases, collisions, and crude practical jokes.

Ok... Star Wars??? there's a few others that are questionable (Longest Yard), but STAR WARS?? bloody hell...

Tom, when is our long-overdue tag overhaul coming? We need to urgently make it MUCH faster and easier for people to add tags, as well as for people too lazy to type, they should be allowed to click on already entered tag to add it to theirs, and with the massive increase in 'good quality' tags, we can then perform tag searches sorted by how many times the word 'slapstick' was used, not by popularity of the film, which should drown out the one lone idiot who decides to tag 'star wars' as a slapstick comedy.

I will try and get the sorting done, I not sure how easy that is yet.

thanks. It would be really nice to have. basically use 2 sorts, primary sort is # of times the tag has been used on particular film, and secondary sort would be by popularity.

This may give very good results when doing tag searches for 'Comedy' or 'Action', but maybe not so much for more obscure tags. Still, this may give people motivation to tag, if the more times something is 'tagged' as comedy, the higher up the list it would go.

Ok the tags now sort by tag popularity, much cooler now! :)

no more 'Fight Club' near first spot of 'comedy' tag search. Now it shows a more accurate image of what the most popular comedies are. Holy Grail #1! rock on! :)
