Free or not?

Are the images here free to download or not?

no, you have to transfer 80 cent per image onto Listal's Paypal account.

Yes, the images are 'free' but if the FBI seizes your computer we don't know you and we never had this conversation.

Such a troll...

@Uber: me? sorry if i forgot the sarcasm-tags... but honestly, what do you expect from such a question?

but honestly, what do you expect from such a question?
I was expecting at least a false link to PayPal. Perhaps followed by comment about the Listal honor system.

@jaytoast: nah, i didn't want to risk some dumbass actually trying to click on the link and sue Listal afterwards...

Can anyone give a clear and respectful answer? Please

@Daniel: uhm, seriously? ok...
what do you people expect from a site like this? do you ask other web sites if their images are "free to download" as well? i really thought there is some common sense left in this world, but alas, it seems there is a need for a "clear and respectful" answer though:
99.99% of the images on this site are not under the copyright of Listal or it's users. subsequently this makes the images on Listal as free and legal as a download from the original source web page containing those (mostly copyrighted) images. don't expect Listal to be responsible for any damage you cause by downloading the images (and then for instance using them commercially) from here. i hope this answers this question...

Bael, you are one of those many rude and ignorant people who live in their own little world with absolutely no imagination...you know now all you'll ever know...get used to people not liking you. Why, if you actually knew the answer to my question in the beginning, didn't you just answer it? I suggest you leave your brain to science as it is marvelous how it can go from "no, you have to transfer 80 cent per image onto Listal's Paypal account." to "what do you people expect from a site like this? do you ask other web sites if their images are "free to download" as well? i really thought there is some common sense left in this world, but alas, it seems there is a need for a "clear and respectful" answer though:

Images are free to use, so long as you keep in mind that:
1) The person who originally posted the images before they were on here may claim copyright and ask that you (and, likely, Listal as well) remove them. This hardly ever happens, though.
And 2) please please please use common courtesy and don't take personal pictures from people's user images page (namely pictures of Listal members and their families and friends) and spread them liberally around the interwebs. That's just not cool, man.

I am not a layer, but it is my understanding that the images here are as free to DOWNLOAD as any other image on the Web.
When you visit a web page, your browser stores its content on your hard disk in order to show it to you, so I guess it would be hardly illegal to just DOWNLOAD images and STORE them on your PC in order to VIEW them when you are offline. Again, I am not a lawyer, so please guys correct me if I am wrong.
If, instead, you are going to USE those images that you downloaded... and UPLOAD them to a web site of yours, or PUBLISH them on a magazine, or DISTRIBUTE them on a DVD, or USE them in any other way in your work or business etc. etc. etc. etc., then I would suggest that you check if they are copyrighted on the site they were taken from, if you want to be on the safe side.
If you don't know the original site, you could find it by using the "Search by image" feature in Google image search (click on the icon of a camera on the right-hand side of the Google Images search window).
For extra safety, if you post some images to a site of yours, you could add a notice like the one on this very site
www.listal.com/help/dmca
and be ready to remove infringing material when so requested.
I also agree with what PK said: use common courtesy and don't spread personal pictures of Listal members and their families and friends!
