Flickr vs PicasaWeb vs other?

Anyone using either Flick or PicasaWeb for managing their photo collections online? What are your thoughts, in particular, to Flickr? Any other good free ones?

I know Flickr is the big dog in town, but from what I tried, I can't get used to it. What are its strengths/benefits? Its file storage sucks (200 photos, right? and only the last 200 photos uploaded, with no way to choose which 200 photos are for public viewing). I also find its reliance on online-only to be a hindrance.

In comparison, I use Google's Picasa offline to organize, sort and add captions to all my photos in 'Albums', and then with a couple clicks, I can upload and resize all images of an album and put them online. And its 1GB limit is great. Being offline (using desktop version of Picasa), obviously there is no limit, it can index and organize tens of thousands of pictures, but by rotating which albums you put online, and auto-resize them to small resolutions, the 1GB is very manageable. And couple it with multiple gmail accounts, and you can put all your photos online easily and for free.

Two things I wish picasa would add is desktop-level tagging (tags were only recently added, and only to the web version of picasa albums), and rating of pictures.

So any Flickr fans? What makes it so unique and popular? And is the free version worth it, or does everyone go for Pro version of Flickr to get anything done?

I use Flickr, but I'm a paid member, so the limits don't affect me. Never used Picasa, either, so I'm not much for comparing. The free version wasn't really worth it to me as one day out can yield over 500 photos.

I'm a fan of the notes on flickr to really single out a part of the image and comment specifically on that. I like the public tags, as often people don't leave a description of the image so it's the only way to tell where and what it is.

Personally, I don't much care about offline organizing as the point of photos is to share. I keep copies on an external harddrive in specific folders, but other than that, I view them myself online.

I like deciding who gets to see my pictures, even down to those in my contact list (those you add as contacts just 'cause you like their photos, vs. family members who might not want their faces plastered on the net).

One of the downsides to Flickr, I find, is that because it's so large and there are so many professional users, comments for us amateurs are few and far between. To get your photos seen, you'd have to post in a dozen or more different groups, and even then, it's no guarantee that someone will take the time to offer some kind words. (I guess technically that would go for any site, but my photos on Deviant Art generated more comments and favourites than on Flickr)

I use both, but the majority of photographs goes to flickr because it's more social. But Picasa is handy for uploading screenshots when logged into Google.

On a related note regarding listal: Is there a way to upload to listal directly from the Picasa application? I know there's a plugin to upload to flickr from Picasa, but it would be cool to upload to listal.
