First book you read

What is the first book you remember reading completely?
In my case is Fahrenheit 451, by Ray Bradbury.

The Hungry Caterpillar arrived very early on the scene...

I remember picture books and being read stories, but the first book I read start to finish was at school;
The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien
The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien

Some fairy tale books. I used to read a lot as a children.
I remember I liked Persian tailes, Andersen, Grimm brothers...

A Wrinkle in Time and I was pretty small

Mine was Dune or 2001 when I was 16. Can't remember which one it was but that's when I started actually reading for once.

First book I read by myself was Go, Dogs, Go! I remember the letters coming together as words and I just got it, the whole reading thing. I was so little but, still the greatest moment of triumph in my life so far.
Then there is a big gap filled with many many kids picture books. Somewhere between the second and fourth grades I had read the hobbit, lord of the rings, chronicles of narnia, adventures of tom and huck. If I had to guess the first novel I read would be The Last Battle in the narnia series.

I read "Crime & Punishment". But the book that lead me to reading habit was "The Fountainhead"

Do you want a book or a fairytale?
If it's a book, then the first one that comes into my mind is "The purple umbrella" (ฮ ฮผฯฮฒ ฮฟฮผฯฯฮญฮปฮฑ) by a Greek writer, Alkh Zeh.It was about a young girl aged 10,Eleftheria,who lived with her parents and her twin brothers in Greece before the Second World War.They have few games along with a pair of roller coaster that a French kid gave it to them who came to live with them in their house. They became very close friends.Using their imagination they could escape from their parents world, that they didn't like.
And the first fairytale I think it was the rabbit and the turtle story.Have you heared about it??

"Goodnight Mister Tom" by Michelle Magorian I picked this book up at a flea market, read the synopsis and then the first page. Found I couldn't put it down and read it from cover to cover.

The Hobbit

I had a lot of trouble learning to read as a child, then my mom gave me the first Harry Potter book :) I finished it in a week.

'Harold and the Purple Crayon'! Unless you're looking for a 'real' book, and then it would the "Dragonflight" by Anne McCaffrey. The beginning of a life-long fascination with the sci-fi/fantasy genre!

The Invisible Man, great read.

The first book that I fondly remember completing, without any assistance, was All the Money in the World. The book is still at my Mother's house today, and actually in excellent condition.
